IQONS is all about fashion and promoting new talent and creativity. The target audience encompasses all industry professionals and vertical markets. Diane Pernet is editor-in-chief of this international magazine, which will debut in February during the New York Fashion Week.
DURHAM MAGAZINE is all about the lifestyle in and around Durham, NC. Subjects will range from dining and entertainment to real estate news, the art scene, area attractions, and local issues. Dan Shannon is at the helm of this bi-monthly publication that is slated to start in April with a distribution of 20,000 mailed copies to area households.
ANOMALY is a new Austin, TX magazine that covers “local, state and national politics to global issues affecting everyone; with a focus on exploring life’s paranormal mysteries and exposing parapolitical corruption.” Mack White oversees this publication, which debuted in mid-December.
CLEAN EATING offers tips, tricks and tools about consuming food in its most natural state, with a focus on “lifestyle nutrition for energy, fat loss, and well-being.” The quarterly magazine recently debuted from Robert Kennedy Publishing.

Christian financial magazine planned

December 28, 2007 - FAITH AND FINANCE "seeks to help transform Christians into the people they are called to be" and offers editorial coverage on debt reduction, investments, and financial planning.

Publisher Zane Willis oversees this monthly magazine, which will debut in March with a distribution of 100,000 copies.

• CONSERVATIONIST FOR KIDS is a nature magazine for fourth-grade students in New York’s public school system. The emphasis is on connecting children with the natural world, creating “a new generation of committed environmental stewards,” and encouraging outdoor exploration and involvement in current environmental issues. The Department of Environmental Conservation will publish the magazine three times per year and can be found at http://www.cforkids.org.
WWE MAGAZINE, published by World Wrestling Entertainment, may soon have a sister title. The new magazine is reported to target children.
SPORTS TECHNOLOGY will “feature peer-reviewed scientific and technical research and development articles covering pure and applied technology” as it relates to sporting equipment and gear, sports players’ performance, and performance monitoring technology. Professor Franz Konstantin Fuss, Dr. Rabindra Mehta, and Professor Aleksandar Subic will edit the magazine. Published by Wiley-Blackwell, the debut issue is expected in February.
CEDAR VALLEY ATHLETE covers the sports scene of Cedar Valley, IA, with player and team profiles, upcoming events, and wellness articles. Nancy Justis, Joyce Barbatti and Jean Vaux are at the helm of the quarterly publication, which debuted with the Winter 2007 issue.
  

Healthcare magazine to report on green trends

December 19, 2007 - EVERGREEN is focusing on providing the healthcare industry with "information and news regarding environmentally preferred purchasing." Topics include green building, waste reduction, water efficiency, green procurement, and sustainable environmental practices.

Darrel Weatherford is editor-in-chief of this bi-monthly magazine, which is published by Consorta and is set to debut in May 2008.  The distribution will be to 50,000 qualified healthcare workers.
 

New green magazine has nationwide plans for regional growth

December 19, 2007 - ALLGREEN is providing green living advice with "in-depth news, how-to articles and informative features on home, business, technology, travel and products."

Michael Guinan is editor-in-chief of this quarterly publication, which debuts with the Winter 2007 issue of the Connecticut edition.  15 more edition launches are planned nationwide in 2008.  The Connecticut edition has a total distribution of 100,000 copies; 82,000 are bundled with sister titles HARTFORD MAGAZINE and CT BUSINESS MAGAZINE, and 18,000 copies are placed in state commerce centers.
 

Regional magazine for boomer-age women

December 19, 2007 - GIRLFRIENDZ targets baby boomer women from 45 to 60 in the New Jersey counties of Camden, Burlington and Gloucester.  Content ranges from health, fitness, and sex, to beauty and fashion, new products, and profiles of area women.

Tobi Schwartz-Cassell is editor-in-chief of this recently launched quarterly JNT Communications magazine.  30,000 copies are mailed to households with incomes over $85,000 and can be found in area doctor and dentists offices, as well as by subscription.

SPRY is the working title of a new monthly magazine in the planning stages from the publishers of AMERICAN PROFILE and RELISH, the Publishing Group of America. With a tagline of “Celebrating Vitality,” topics will include fitness, health, and well-being. A September debut is expected with a nine million-copy distribution through newspaper channels.
OAK STREET is a new lifestyle magazine for residents of Laurel, MS. Content includes features about local people, events, and anything of interest within the community. Published by the Laurel Leader-Call, the premier issue recently debuted.
TAPS, a defunct Canadian magazine, has relaunched this month with a 100 percent focus on beer, from event history and home brewing, to beer and food pairings and brewery profiles. The quarterly publication can be found around Ontario at a number of bookstores and pubs.
  

Major newspaper to launch new lifestyle magazine

December 12, 2007 - OPEN AIR will target affluent consumers interested in an active life.  Articles will range from outdoor activity stories and travel features to equipment, nutrition, and mental health information related to a healthy lifestyle.

Jack Curry has been named acting editor of this joint editorial collaboration between USA Today and USA WEEKEND.  The quarterly publication will be distributed with the 2.3 million circulation USA Today newspaper, beginning on March 7 and followed by publication dates of May 2, September 5, and November 7.

PERSONAL DEVELOPMENT focuses on self-help success training through articles on wealth building, finances, goal setting, health and fitness, relationships, travel, and spirituality. The monthly magazine’s editorial department is headed by Ann McGuire.
HEAVY HITTERS is about customized, luxury cars and the accompanying lifestyle. The quarterly magazine recently debuted on newsstands.
CURRENT CLINICAL PRACTICE targets doctors of internal medicine. Content includes “news, information and studies on optimizing patient care, medical insurance and clinical challenges practitioners face every day.” Bernard Rosof, MD is at the helm of this quarterly Dowden Health Media publication.
 

Florida real estate magazine grows

December 7, 2007 - REAL ESTATE FLORIDA "focuses on the news, deals and personalities shaping the state’s commercial property market," with content ranging from insight and analysis of economic indicators, property performance data, shifting demographics, and development trends.

Carl Cronan was recently named editor of this ALM magazine, which initially was distributed as a supplement in the June and November issues of REAL ESTATE FORUM.  In 2008, the magazine will become a monthly statewide stand-alone title with a distribution of 15,000 copies and an additional 5,000 copies distributed to investors nationwide.
 

New in-flight magazine planned

December 7, 2007 - SKYBUSSING is the new in-flight magazine for Skybus passengers, a regional carrier based in Columbus, OH.  Content will range from guides on restaurants, bars, hotels, shops and property found in nationwide Skybus destinations, vacation ideas, and onboard offerings from food and beverage to gifts.

The quarterly title will launch with the March/April/May issue and be published by Ink Publishing.

Pro athletes get new magazine about financial matters

December 7, 2007 - THE PLAYERS CLUB targets professional athletes with the resources needed "to make well-informed financial and lifestyle decisions."  The main content includes articles and products focused on financial security for athletes who typically have shorter careers.

The monthly magazine is published by Doubledown Media and will debut in April 2008 with a direct mail circulation of 20,000 copies.  Recipients include athletes in all major sports as well as team management, team offices, and financial advisors.

CURRENT REVIEWS IN MUSCULOSKELETAL MEDICINE “will cover orthopedics, sports medicine, physical medicine and rehabilitation,” with a focus on evidence-based review articles and breaking news. Grant Cooper, MD and Joseph Herrera, DO are the editors-in-chief of this quarterly Springer publication, which is set to debut in March 2008.
CANCER PREVENTION RESEARCH reports on the “entire spectrum of cancer prevention and early detection.” The monthly peer-reviewed journal, published by the American Association for Cancer Research, is set to premiere in June 2008 with editor-in-chief Scott Lippman, M.D. at the helm.
ANCHOR will offer “current, authoritative, practical, and inspirational communication” about depression and its affect on people. The quarterly Canadian magazine, published by Magpie Publishing, is expected to debut sometime in spring 2008.
ESPERANZA, whose subtitle is “hope to cope with anxiety and depression,” will be “serving the community of interest surrounding depression.” Published by Joanne Doan, owner of sister title BP, the premiere issue is scheduled for mid-February, with distribution in both the U.S. and Canada.
  

Healthcare magazine to debut in March

December 5, 2007 - FEEL BETTER MAGAZINE is a custom publication for Pharmaca Integrative Pharmacy, featuring articles on alternative health news, holistic and traditional products care, beauty aids, and gifts.  The focus is about achieving healthier lives through a personalized blend of traditional prescription services and complementary and natural remedies.

Published by AIM's Healthy Living Group, the bi-monthly title will debut in March and distribute 80,000 copies through Pharmaca retail locations.
 

New lifestyle magazine for Canadian corporate executives
 
December 5, 2007 - ARGYLE is a Canadian lifestyle magazine for top executives interested in money, style, leisure, and sport topics.

The quarterly magazine, published by Bassett Media Group, will debut in February.  75,000 copies will be direct mailed to members of the Cambridge Group of Clubs and in select copies of Canada's national newspaper, The Globe and Mail.

ON MAKEUP MAGAZINE is for the professional makeup artist. The focus is on all forms of makeup, makeup artists, and makeup artistry. Topics include profiles, products, trends, techniques, and inspiration. Michael DeVellis is at the helm of this quarterly The Powder Group publication, which debuts in February with the Winter 2008 issue.
AKRON MEANS BUSINESS is all about profiling the interesting businesses and people in the Akron, OH area, along with product and service news. Kaeth Gauthier is editor-in-chief of the monthly PML Publishing magazine, which debuts this month.
VIP LATINO plans to cover U.S. Latino talent by reporting on “the latest news in and about Hollywood and the hottest celebrity events that Latinos want to read about.” The target audience is consumer-savvy 18-to 34-year-olds. Initially the magazine will appear as an insert with bi-monthly sister title LATINO FUTURE and then stand alone in the fall of 2008.
