TWIST to realign focus

April 25, 2007 - TWIST, the celebrity magazine for young teens, will soon be positioning itself "as a junior LIFE & STYLE." There will be more emphasis "on tween celebrity fashion and beauty," aimed at 10- to 14-year-olds.  In addition, new departments are expected including Looks Boys Like, Is This Normal, Body Insecurities, and Who Got It Right.

Molly MacDermot is editor-in-chief of this Bauer Publishing title. The changes will begin with the May/June double issue.
 

New magazine about anatomy education

April 25, 2007 - ANATOMICAL SCIENCES EDUCATION will cover "developments in education in the anatomical sciences." Topics include new ideas, innovations, and research.

Dr. Wojciech Pawlina and Dr. Richard L. Drake will co-edit this bi-monthly journal, which is published by Wiley & Sons and due to launch in early 2008.
 

Spinoff headed for college newspapers

April 25, 2007 - MEN'S HEALTH is spinning off MEN'S HEALTH ON CAMPUS as a test this fall. 500,000 copies will be carried as supplements in about 30 campus newspapers in 10 markets. 
 
A second issue is planned for spring 2008 with a goal for quarterly publication thereafter.  Additional information was not immediately available.
 

New magazine covers diversity in the business world

April 20, 2007 - DIVERSITYBUSINESS is looking to provide information that helps companies meet "their diversity initiatives and succeeding in the global, multi-cultural business market."

Published by DiversityBusiness.com, the debut issue was released last week.  Distribution is by subscription.  Additional information was not immediately available.
 
 
New magazine to cover Tennessee high school football

April 20, 2007 - TENNESSEE FOOTBALL will "include coverage of the 320 varsity high school football teams, team schedules, player statistics, recruiting information and feature stories."  In addition, state collegiate programs will receive editorial space as well.

The annual magazine, which will debut in August, is published by Varsity Sports Media.  The publication is under the direction of Craig Baroncelli.

Bluetooth B2B magazine debuts

April 20, 2007 - SIGNATURE will take "an inside look at the many ways Bluetooth technology is leading the global short-range wireless revolution."  The target audience includes engineers, software developers, researchers, marketing professionals, and retailers.  Topics range from use in the home, work, and personal life environment to retailer profiles and best practices.

The quarterly magazine, published by Pace Communications for the Bluetooth Special Interest Group (SIG), launched on April 17.  Issues are available online and will also be distributed to over 7,000 Bluetooth SIG member companies.
 

New magazine features meat as creative endeavor

April 20, 2007 - MEATPAPER is "a print magazine of art and ideas about meat."  Articles explore the meat culture in "a provocative, whimsical and politically open-ended journal on the issues raised by eating meat."

Sasha Wizansky and Amy Standen are the editors of this magazine, which debuted in March.  Additional information was not immediately available.
 

B2B magazine launches for children's footwear industry
  


April 20, 2007 - LITTLE STEPS "features a range of tools and tips for all retailers offering children's footwear."  Topics include fashion forecasts, retailer profiles, shopping destinations, and children's' viewpoints.

The bi-annual magazine is a collaboration between FOOTWEAR PLUS and EARNSHAW'S, with Symphony Publishing producing the title.  The first issue will feature fall information and be distributed with copies of both FOOTWEAR PLUS and EARNSHAW'S.
 

New magazine for bicycle enthusiasts

April 20, 2007 - ROAD BIKE ACTION MAGAZINE is for recreational riders who seek information about staying in shape.  Content includes equipment news, endurance building, and general health issues as related to the sport.

The bi-monthly magazine from Hi-Torque Publications debuted in March.  Additional information was not immediately available.

Alumni magazine connects many campuses

April 18, 2007 - HBCU CONNECT THE MAGAZINE "rallies historically black college and university alumni, family and friends together in an exchange of heartfelt and sobering dialogue designed to provoke personal, spiritual and professional growth within the HBCU community in which it supports."

Content includes personality features highlighting HBCU successes, issues on and off campuses, trends, sports, alumni event coverage, and campus profiles.

The quarterly publication, from the organization Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCU), debuts with the Spring issue and is available by subscription.
 

Regional golf magazine planned

April 18, 2007 - CASCADE GOLFER is about all aspects of golfing in Washington state, with the greatest focus on the Puget Sound region.

The magazine will be published for Puetz Golf, a golf equipment retailer, by Varsity Communications. Three issues per year will begin with the June debut issue. Distribution is to 100,000 previous Puetz Golf customers and an additional 10,000 copies available at Puetz Golf retail locations. Additional information was not immediately available.
 

Hospitality magazine adds new edition

April 18, 2007 - HOSPITALITY EXECUTIVE, published for the Arizona, Nevada and Texas markets, has added a New Mexico edition.  The focus is on profiles of state professionals, key property reports, news, forecasts, and tourism-related information.  The target audience includes key decision makers at resorts,hotels, motels, bed & breakfast inns, wedding and meeting planners, and event coordinators.

This Broker Agent Magazine title will publish the debut issue in June. Additional information was not immediately available.
 

New magazine covers Michigan sports

April 18, 2007 - MICHIGAN IN PLAY! covers both professional and leisure sports in Michigan.  Topics include interviews, profiles, team insights, and news.

Deborah Jones is editor-in-chief of this monthly magazine, which launched with its April issue.  20,000 copies are distributed by subscription and at area businesses throughout southeast Michigan.
 

Bank reps get new magazine

April 18, 2007 - BANK ADVISOR MAGAZINE is for insurance, annuity and security product sales representatives who seek information on penetrating the bank sales channel.

This Wiesner Media Financial Group title will publish three issues in 2007, starting in June, and increase frequency to monthly in 2008. Additional information was not immediately available.
 

Regional automotive magazine to launch

April 18, 2007 - INLAND EMPIRE AUTOMOTIVE MAGAZINE covers the southern California automotive industry scene. Topics include news, reviews, product and technical information, and event coverage.

April 18, 2007 - SEATTLE METROPOLITAN BRIDE & GROOM will cover contemporary wedding ideas, from style, etiquette and cake, to event location and honeymoon destination arrangements.

Executive editor Laura Cassidy oversees this bi-annual publication, a sister title to SEATTLE METROPOLITAN, PORTLAND MONTHLY and PORTLAND MONTHLY BRIDE & GROOM.  The July 1 launch will be found on area newsstands and in specialty boutiques.
 

New trade magazine for bloggers launches

April 16, 2007 - BLOGGER & PODCASTER's is for both serious and aspiring "new media titans" who seek to improve this industry's craft.  Topics include how-tos, technology, case studies, profiles, and news and analysis.

Anne Saita is editor-in-chief of this monthly publication from the
International Blogging and New Media Association.  The initial circulation of the April debut issue is 20,000 copies with distribution to association members and by subscription.
 

Philly magazine to launch

April 16, 2007 - STYLE & SPLENDOR is a luxury and lifestyle magazine for affluent Philadelphia residents.  Articles will cover fashion, home interior, jewelry, wine, art, and entertainment.

The monthly publication is being published by Broad Street Magazines, a subsidiary of Philadelphia Media Holdings.  The debut issue is due out at the end of May and will be distributed to 70,000 area households.
 

Homestyle magazine to debut in Atlanta

April 16, 2007 - FIRST HOME is aimed at 25- to 40-year-olds in Atlanta who are first time or aspiring home buyers.  Topics include home decor, entertainment, real estate, money matters, decorating and remodeling, and profiles of area homes.

Clinton Smith is editor-in-chief of this spin-off from ATLANTA HOMES AND LIFESTYLES magazine.  The debut issue is expected in September with one more to follow in 2007. Publishing frequency will increase to bi-monthly in 2008. Distribution will be at special magazine racks throughout the
city with 32,000 copies available.
 

Regional magazine debuts

April 16, 2007 - MONTGOMERY COUNTY LIFE covers community, technology, and local commerce for the residents of Montgomery County and Fulton County in New York.

April 16, 2007 - GOLFER GIRL MAGAZINE is "aiming to help girls find inspiration from the success of others and to learn about golf's history and famous women golfers."  Junior golfers from 7 to 17 are targeted.

Claude Hooton oversees this publication, which will debut in a few weeks with the Spring issue.  The quarterly magazine will have a distribution of 10,000 copies, by subscription and to USGA-LPGA Girls Golf-sponsored programs and events.  The magazine's website is http://www.golfergirlmagazine.com.
 

New magazine about mixed martial arts

April 16, 2007 - FIGHT! is getting ready to report on the outstanding competitors and personalities in the mixed martial arts sport arena.  The magazine hopes to capture the attention of both devoted fight fans and the "newer crossover audience.

"Donovan Craig is editor of this Bluff Media magazine.  The debut issue will go on sale June 26.  Additional information was not immediately available.
  

Wildlife career magazine debuts

April 16, 2007 - THE WILDLIFE PROFESSIONAL is an information resource for wildlife managers and conservationists.  The magazine approaches its audience with comprehensive looks at what is shaping the field, including politics, science, and increasing human-wildlife interaction.

Philippa Benson is editor-in-chief of this quarterly publication, which debuted with its Spring issue and is distributed to members of The Wildlife Society.

April 7, 2007 - CANADIAN FREETHINKER "promotes freethought, humanist principles, and civil rights."  It is designed as a forum for atheists, agnostics, humanists, skeptics and transhumanists.

Zak (no last name) is editor-in-chief of this bi-monthly publication, a joint venture between the Society of Ontario Freethinkers and the Freethought Association of Canada.  The magazine debuted with its March/April issue.
 

New regional magazine launched

April 5, 2007 - NORTH TULSA is for Oklahomans interested in the history, heritage, and traditions of the area, including a "celebration of the people who live, work, and dream in North Tulsa."

Boston newspaper to add new magazine

April 3, 2007 - FASHION BOSTON will chronicle the "exciting trends, people, and events that are making Boston one of the country's most vibrant fashion markets."  Articles will feature retailers' current styles and talented local designers.

Alexandra Hall is editor of this monthly magazine, which debuts on May 8.

The publication will be distributed with The Boston Globe to 100,000 high-income households in Boston and nearby suburbs.
 

Major magazine expands editorial content

April 3, 2007 - GOOD HOUSEKEEPING is seeking to continue engaging boomer-age women while capturing the interest of women in their late 30s and early 40s.

Editor-in-chief Rosemary Ellis is adding eight to ten editorial pages starting with the May issue.  Two new sections: Good (Enough) Housekeeping - quick steps with great results; and The Goods - product testing results. In addition, look for more organization tip articles and beauty and fashion content, along with an expanded roster of fast and nutritious meal recipes.
