Yoga is a hot topic for writers September 25, 2000 - 12.5 million people in the U.S. do some form of yoga according to Yoga Journal. To keep up with the changes in this exercise discipline, the title has revamped its look this year to appear "less alien and more accessible." Editor-in-chief Kathryn Arnold notes that yoga isn't "weird anymore." The typical reader is a professional women in her 40s with a household income of $68,000. 97 percent of the title's readers are college-educated while one third hold advanced degrees. Looking at some of the September/October issue article titles, like Yoga Kicked My Butt and Yoga in Black and White, which discusses healing the racial divide with yoga, there is plenty of room for writers to pitch a unique angle that will interest the target audience.
