Teen People named best new consumer magazine October 9, 2000 - Since 1992, Temple University has bestowed the Acres of Diamonds Award to a magazine launched in the last five years. The selection criteria includes creativity in identifying new consumer interests, innovativeness, contribution in expanding useful knowledge and success in meeting circulation and financial goals. Approximately 1,000 titles were considered, with the editors of Folio: nominating the top 10 for consideration, and the winner chosen by a Temple University-selected panel. Other finalists included Business 2.0, CosmoGIRL, Dig, The Industry Standard, Maxim, Mode, More, National Geographic Adventure, and Yahoo! Internet Life. Previous winners include ESPN The Magazine, Sports Illustrated for Kids, Smart Money, Family Fun, Martha Stewart Living and Cigar Aficionado.
