New basketball sports title launches

November 28, 2001 - A new quarterly men's basketball lifestyle magazine has launched this week. Dime concentrates on the story behind how many points someone scored in a game, covering locker-room talk, gossip about athletes and profiles.

Fashion and music will also be covered as well as some players' drug addiction and criminal lives. The target audience is college students and young urban professionals. The title is being compared to Maxim rather than ESPN, the Magazine or Sports Illustrated.

Dime is published by independent Dime Media and led by publisher Matt O'Neil (matt@dimemag.com) and his partner Josh Gotthelf (josh@dimemag.com). Queries should be sent to editor@dimemag.com.

The quarterly publishing schedule follows the game of basketball's season start, playoffs, finals and back-to-school college coverage The title has a controlled circulation of 50,000 and hopes to increase publication to bimonthly in 2003.
