Harper's Bazaar to pay writers more for two extra digest-size issues new year? November 6, 2000 - The March and September 2001 issues of Harper's Bazaar will be available in digest-size versions for readers who might enjoy the mini format. Content will remain the same for both the full- and reduced-size magazines. Katherine Betts, the title's editor-in-chief, feels that magazines are getting difficult to carry, so 100,000 copies of the mini-size magazine will be distributed in airports and high-end newsstands in key markets. The concept has already been tried with the Australian edition and advertisers like the extra coverage. The March issue is rumored to be preparing for its highest level of advertising than in any previous March issue. Writers should take this into account when negotiating fees for these bust-out issues. Why should only the advertisers benefit? |
