Wink launches in June, but will they last? May 3, 2000 - Wink, a new women's title preparing to launch in June, is hoping to attract women in their 20s by offering not only the usual fashion/celebrity/advice fare of other veteran titles, but also adding articles that offer more in-depth content. While more established titles will probably continue to hold appeal to the young, educated, affluent, multi-cultural women that make up their audience, the speculation that Wink will quickly wither in direct competition may be overstated. After all, women are fickle, aren't they? Content beyond the latest fashions may be just what the reader ordered and editor Katherine Silberger seems ready to meet that challenge. It's just a matter of time to see what opportunities might be available for writers in the long run. Despite the fact that Wink has not appeared in print yet, its web site is up and running, with an offer for a free subscription. Access our database for more information. |
