New title for pre-school teachers and children to launch

March 27, 2002 - In September, a new magazine for pre-school teachers and children, Scholastic News presents Clifford, based on the popular "Big Red Dog," will launch. It is the first pre-school publication from Scholastic.

The title's focus will be on helping young children's social development and promote early reading and other readiness skills. Eight yearly issues will be published with specific themes for educators to follow, including such topics as bugs, holidays and weather. Universal concepts such as friendship, kindness, responsibility, truthfulness and respect will be emphasized.

David Goddy, Editor-in-Chief of Scholastic Classroom Magazines, will lead the magazine. The launch coincides with the 2002-2003 school year with a circulation of 200,000.
