Freelance writers welcome at ComputerworldROI!

March 14, 2001 - ComputerworldROI launched this week as an every-other-month supplement to Computerworld magazine. The focus is the business payback of information technology (IT), with an audience of business strategists and senior executives.

The most important content is about increasing the value that technology brings to business results and the bottom line. Computerworld's editor-in-chief, Maryfran Johnson, noted that "the great IT challenge is determining return-on-investment (ROI), or technology payback - proving the value of technology investments from a business perspective."

Executive editor Julia King added that "a classic ROI story might explore how a company justified a new Internet ordering system, the risks it encountered installing it and its impact on both near-term quarterly earnings and longer-term financial results."

But leave out the technical "plumbing" details. Instead, qualified writes should concentrate on practical, jargon-free examples of how companies can accelerate technology payback.

Computerworld currently has 250,000 subscribers and is published by IDG. The supplement is available online, with weekly updates to content.
