The Oprah Magazine launches today
April 19, 2000 - O, The Oprah Magazine, wants to help women live
their lives to their best ability. The premier issue, which reached newsstands
today with a total of one million copies, should appeal to Ms. Winfrey's
diverse and wide audience.
Editorial direction
of this women's lifestyle glossy is targeted to "give confident, smart
women the tools they need to explore and reach for their dreams, to express
their individual style and to make choices that will lead to a happier
and more fulfilling life," according to the title's
website.
Editor-in-Chief Ellen
Kunes guides the title that will be published bimonthly for May/June and
July/August. Monthly issues are due to start in September. O, The Oprah
Magazine is a venture between Ms. Winfrey's Harpo Entertainment
Group and Hearst Magazines.
