LIFE closes as a periodical

March 20, 2000 - 64 year-old Life will die a second time in May when it will cease publication as a monthly general interest magazine.

It died the first time in 1972 when it was discontinued as a weekly but was resurrected in 1978 as a monthly.

The publisher, Time Inc, will continue to publish commemorative issues at special occasions and expand the current web site.
