HomeGirl targets newly defined market

June 21, 2000 - The music world is drawing in more female readers than ever before according to Miller Publishing Group, owner of Vibe, the seven-year-old music news title.

So HomeGirl was created, currently planned as a biannual to be bundled with Vibe's October issue, under the direction of editor Emil Wilbekin.

The company is betting that these young women, who may be reading Essence, Honey and Latino, might be more interested in a title that offers not only home, fashion and beauty content, but also music-related features.
