France gets first lesbian magazine June 27, 2000 - French lesbians broke with the male-dominated French gay population by starting their own magazine, called Tetu, Madame in response to the leading gay French magazine, Tetu. The editors of Tetu, Madame (Stubborn, Madame) are claiming that they have never really been included in the softening of societal rules that gay men recently have been profiting from. In an editorial, Tetu, Madame declares that Tetu's allegation that it represents both gay men and lesbians is "a giant swindle". Tetu called that declaration "spiteful". |
