Emerge will re-emerge with broader editorial focus June 5, 2000 - Emerge has ceased publication and will focus on recreating itself for re-launch sometime in early 2001. The title will retain core issues-oriented coverage that appeals to its middle-class African-American readers, but reportedly is expected to add extensive, provocative profiles about people in the arts, entertainment and sports fields. It's also possible that the magazine's name will change to reflect the new editorial direction that will use a more inviting approach to African-American issues, trends and personalities. The title, owned by Vanguarde Media, which also owns Honey and Heart & Soul, had a stagnant circulation of 150,000, a red flag indication that the audience was not broad enough. |
