American Spectator revamps content

February 28, 2001 - While American Spectator will remain true to its original mission of conservative leadership, it will also add a new feature section and concentrate on technology and new economy issues that shape today's market.

Editor-in-chief R. Emmett Tyrrell, Jr. noted that "extremely rapid technological innovation is now the dominant force in our economy and our culture, with overwhelming implications for American politics." The title is expected to not only comment on the new economy, but help its readers to profit from it.

According to new editor Richard Vigilante, "the crucial political battles of the next century will be about technology and the great wealth it creates in the new economy. Conservatives will need to understand technology issues as well as they do the economy or defense."

Mr. Vigilante added that most readers of conservative magazines such as American Spectator are members of the investor class, and that the title is looking to help readers prosper, as well as amuse and enlighten them.

New sections include:

  • Untold stories in politics, the economy and technology
  • Profiles of high-tech entrepreneurs and companies
  • American Spectator Interview
  • Regular coverage of the great artists of the modern era
