The Common Review new title for literature buffs

August 27, 2001 - Bridging the gap between academic and public discussion of literature is the focus of The Common Review, a new quarterly title launching on September 1 by the Great Books Foundation. Editor Daniel Born notes on the title's website that they "expect to foster dialogue in the aftermath of the culture wars - and to start some debates of our own," adding, "and we will not hesitate to challenge hardened orthodoxies on both the left and right."

300-400 work queries that explain a writer's article concept, along with qualifications and contact information, is preferred. Typical articles will run between 2,000 and 5,000 words, with intelligent, but not necessarily academic, writing.

The first issue will be distributed to more than 20,000 people, with future distribution a combination of subscription or single copy sales at retail outlets.
