Vintage motorcycles focus of new pub

September 29, 2005 - MOTORCYCLE CLASSICS is "devoted to classic motorcycles and the growing number of Americans who ride them."  Topics include articles on vintage bikes, travel destinations, and reviews of museums.

Richard Backus is editor-in-chief of this bimonthly title from Ogden Publications.  A circulation of 50,000 copies heralded the debut August/September issue.
 

Music storytelling mag to launch

September 28, 2005 - FRETBOARD JOURNAL is "dedicated to players and collectors of guitars, banjos, mandolins, and ukuleles."  Articles will cover profiles, history, the art form, the craft, and music-related stories and are all about sharing a story.  The title will not cover instruction or gear reviews.

The quarterly magazine will debut with its November issue and is published in Palo Alto, CA.  The website is http://www.fretboardjournal.com.

September 28, 2005 - The adventure, travel and luxury of Land Rovers will soon be chronicled by LRL.  Topics include destinations, profiles, and innovations.

Douglas E. Evilsizor is founder of this bi-monthly title from SlickRock Publishing.  The debut issue is due out in January.
 

New mag to cover what we drink

September 27, 2005 - Wine, spirits, beer, coffee and tea are the headliners at a new magazine titled IMBIBE. Topics include history, ingredients, preparation, artistry and consumption.

Fairchild to spin off bridal specials

September 27, 2005 - The Fairchild Bridal Group is introducing stand alone specialty issues of its bridal magazines. BRIDE'S will publish a November "Honeymoons & Weddings Away" issue as well as a January "Receptions" issue. In addition, a April/May supplement on jewelry will be produced.

MODERN BRIDE plans a home supplement in April/May and a "Fitness & Beauty" issue for May 2006.
 

New mag focuses on food, fitness and wellbeing

September 27, 2005 - TODAY'S DIET AND NUTRITION is getting ready to enter the healthcare magazine market. The target audience is educated, proactive "readers who seek credible information that will help them create healthy lifestyles."

Kate Jackson is editor of this quarterly title published by Great Valley Publishing Company, which also publishes sister title TODAY'S DIETITIAN. The debut October issue will be distributed to 80,000 dietitians, nutrition professionals, and by subscription to consumers.

Regional pub for women to launch

September 26, 2005 - The Grand Forks area of North Dakota and Minnesota will soon see a new woman's magazine on the news racks. RED RIVER VALLEY WOMEN TODAY will feature area women profiles along with features on health trends and family and personal finance. In addition, local photos, recipes, and events will be covered.

Bow crafting mag provides integrated resource

September 26, 2005 - THE BOWYER'S JOURNAL recently launched, covering "all aspects of crafting traditional and primitive archery equipment and hunting and shooting with that equipment." Additional topics include history, interviews, and bowhunting.

Disney creates parenting title

September 26, 2005 - Disney Worldwide Publishing is getting a new magazine ready for market. WONDERTIME is all about early childhood development, from birth through six years of age. The focus is on "compelling insights into the ways children think, learn, and grow," and the message is about the joy, not the job.

Lisa Stiepock is editor of this quarterly title due out in late February 2006. A bi-monthly frequency is planned for 2007 and 10 issues per year thereafter.
 

Regional weekend mag changes content focus

September 23, 2005 - The Michigan Daily's weekend magazine has been renamed from WEEKEND MAGAZINE to THE STATEMENT. Features have been updated to include more in-depth reporting on Ann Arbor, Michigan city and university issues and are "more intelligent, with a goal of exposing new ideas and information."

Doug Wernert is editor of the paper's weekly magazine publication.
 

Healthcare mag for people and pets

September 23, 2005 - YOUR HEALTH NOW has launched its debut issue. Content contains information on empowering people to have productive conversations with their doctors and offers articles that are up-to-date, easy-to-read, and unbiased. Each issue focuses on a health topic or theme, reviews recent medical research, answers common health questions, and offers tips on pet health.

Robert Berkow, M.D. is editor-in-chief of this bimonthly title from Merck & Co, Inc. Distribution is by subscription and to doctors' offices and health organizations.

September 23, 2005 - ART AND LIVING is set to provide a comprehensive overview of Southern California's art scene with additional worldwide coverage as well. Articles and profiles on galleries, public art, museums, art connoisseurs, and artists will be blended with "the art of" features on everyday life.

Jeff Marinelli and C.C. Crawford, publishers, oversee this bimonthly title which will launch with the December issue. Distribution is 30,000 copies to area galleries, households with incomes over $400,000, fine hotels, country clubs, and private airports.
 

Enhancing beauty focus of new regional pub

September 23, 2005 - The premier issue of BLOOM is due out December 3, subtitled, "Colorado's Guide to Beauty and Cosmetic Enhancement." Features are about improving personal beauty in a natural looking way through the latest treatments and cosmetic procedures.

Zac Folk is publisher of this title, with planned issues each winter, spring and summer. Distribution is statewide on newsstands, in bookstores and spas, as well as through subscription. The website is http://www.bloomcolorado.com. A Texas edition may be launched in spring.
 

Editorial shift at U.S. NEWS

September 22, 2005 - U.S. NEWS & WORLD REPORT will put "more emphasis on news analysis, investigative reporting and its franchise lists," while reducing coverage on deadline reporting in the news columns and features. In addition, a regular single-topic issue on "America's Best Leaders" debuts in late October.

Editor Brian Duffy noted that the changes will allow the title to expand the "reach and interaction with our readers."
 

Dietary supplements focus of new mag

September 22, 2005 - REMEDIES will report on "insightful, authoritative, cutting-edge editorial dedicated to the science and promise of dietary supplements." Additional columns will focus on herbal healing, homeopathic medicine, health and beauty, and sports nutrition.

James. J. Gormley is editor-in-chief of this monthly publication due to launch sometime in fall. Distribution is through established retail stores. TASTE FOR LIFE is its sister title.
 

New mag covers men's nocturnal hours

September 22, 2005 - The nighttime world of metropolitan entertainment, including clubs, bars, lounges, and restaurants, will be the focus of NIGHTLYFE MAGAZINE. Celebrity interviews, movie and music reviews, food and beverage news, men's issues, and fashion and style round out the editorial content.

The monthly title is due to launch this coming January with a ratebase of 350,000. The website can be found at http://www.nightlyfemag.com.
 

Youth travel pub targets two markets

September 22, 2005 - The second issue of PREP TRAVELER is due out soon, catering to organizations that plan performance group and youth sport trips. Content includes articles on organizing trips, fundraising, and personal growth through travel, whether in the U.S., Canada, or worldwide.

John Kloster is editor-in-chief of this Spring and Autumn issue title, distributed to 26,000 organizations by publisher Premier Tourism Marketing. In 2006, the release dates are March and September respectively.
 

GOLF MAGAZINE swings in new direction

September 15, 2005 - The September issue of GOLF MAGAZINE is presenting new editorial concepts.  The publication is "putting on a larger focus on equipment and instruction, and adding four news sections."

David Clarke has been editor since late 2004 and is spearheading the "fresher approach."

VIBE spins off sister pub

September 15, 2005 - VIBE VIXEN was spun-off from sister VIBE and is now a standalone magazine.  Content is celebrity-driven and includes articles on fitness, gadgets, relationships, fashion, and beauty.

The title is set to publish bi-monthly in 2006 and is distributed on newsstands and by subscription.
 

Regional New Hampshire mag enters market

September 15, 2005 - KEARSARGE MAGAZINE focuses on the lifestyles, history and people of the Lake Sunapee region of New Hampshire.

Laura Jean Whitcomb is editor of this title, which debuted with its Summer/Fall issue and is getting the Winter issue ready.  7,500 copies are distributed in retail outlets and by subscription and will publish quarterly (February, May, August and November) in 2006.
 

2006 pub launch for scale boat aficionados

September 15, 2005 - SCALE & RC BOAT MAGAZINE is getting ready to premier its debut January/February issue in December.  Content covers the radio control aspects of scale model boats.

September 14, 2005 - A new regional magazine for New Smyrna Beach and Edgewater has launched this month.  Editorial coverage for THE ISLAND VOICE includes health, retirement, local excursions, restaurant profiles, the music scene, recipes and advice forums.

Cindy Burkett is editor of this bimonthly title.  Distribution is 10,000 copies to local businesses, new homeowners and households with incomes over $150,000.
 

Area mag captures Rochester, New York

September 14, 2005 - ROCHESTER MAGAZINE launched mid-year, with enlightening stories about homes, dining, wine, art, entertainment, fashion, and travel.  The target audience is 35- to 55-years old.

Mark Liu is editor of this bi-monthly title.  Distribution is 15,000 copies by subscription and at local businesses.

Michigan sports mag launching soon

September 13, 2005 - Professional, college, and high school sports will soon be covered by MOTOR CITY SPORTS MAGAZINE.  Feature articles are written from the fans' point of view and the target audience is 25- to 54-year old males.

Eddie Gilmour is senior editor of this title from Haas Rock Publications.  The debut issue is due out on October 4, with 10 issues published per year.  Initial circulation is 15,000 with an anticipated growth to 30,000 copies in the Detroit and southern Michigan areas.
 

News pub for teens

September 13, 2005 - LOUD is getting ready to launch, targeting Generation Y teens with information about rights, technology, college, business, fashion, travel, health, and music.

Anne Schukat is editor-in-chief of this quarterly title headquartered in Palo Alto, Calif.  An initial circulation of 10,000 is anticipated for the debut fall issue.
 

Regional NC pub to launch

September 13, 2005 - The eastern face of North Carolina's Research Triangle, from Garner to Wake Forest, is the focus of TRIANGLE EAST MAGAZINE.  Content covers the region's "quality of life."

Ron Smith is editor of this bi-monthly title from Cherokee Publishing Co.  The debut December/January issue will have a minimum circulation of 15,000.  The company publishes sister titles CARY MAGAZINE and CARY BUSINESS.
 

Cultural enrichment planned

September 13, 2005 - Young professionals will soon have a new magazine addressing issues of concern about culture, travel, the world, and arts and entertainment.  Content is geared towards and "motivated by the generation that feels lost in the cracks."

September 9, 2005 - LAW OFFICER debuted last month, concentrating its editorial content towards "the tenured officer with four to seven years experience." Content ranges from police tactics and terrorism to more obscure topics such as dealing with revenge threats.

Dale Stockton is editor of this bimonthly title, published by Jems Communications.  The initial readership totaled 27,000. FIRERESCUE and WILDLAND FIREFIGHTER are sister titles.
 

New construction pub to launch

September 9, 2005 - The design, construction and facilities operations of hotels, motels and resorts will be covered by a new magazine, HOSPITALITY CONSTRUCTION MAGAZINE.  The focus is to help readers do their jobs more efficiently, with content covering industry news, features, industry trends, and project profiles.

Chelsie Butler is editor of this bimonthly D&D Communications Group title, which also publishes sister titles RETAIL CONSTRUCTION MAGAZINE and HEALTHCARE BUILDING IDEAS.  The magazine debuts in January 2006.
 

SEED reseeds itself

September 9, 2005 - SEED, the magazine about the relationship between science and society, is getting ready to relaunch after a year-long hiatus.  The newest issue is due out on newsstands later this month.

Published by the Seed Media Group, the bimonthly title will reappear with an initial circulation of 150,000.

September 9, 2005 - BETTER HEALTH & LIVING, a newly launched magazine in the Lima, Ohio area, "blends the latest in national medical, nutrition and fitness news with local features."

The quarterly title, published by The Lima News, debuted September 1, and is distributed to health and medical centers as well as a supplement in the newspaper.
 

Regional mag launched for seniors

September 6, 2005 - SENIORITY MAGAZINE debuted July 1 for mature citizens in Seneca County, Ohio.  The focus is on news, information, and stories for people 55-years and older.  Topics include health, finances, insurance, travel, shopping, and events.

Headed by Michael Hughes, publisher, the monthly title is distributed to over 100 locations and has a circulation of 30,000.  The website is http://www.senioritymagazine.net.
 

New regional shopping guide launches

September 6, 2005 - African-American women in the Houston area have a new shopping publication, JONES MAGAZINE.  The emphasis is on finding quality goods and services and reporting on hidden shopping treasure spots.

Tracey Ferguson is editor of this quarterly title, set to debut this month.  Distribution is through local area shops and by subscription.  The ratebase was not immediately available.

Young tennis players targeted

September 1, 2005 - A new sports lifestyle magazine titled SMASH is being put together.  The target audience is tennis buffs from 14- to 21-years old. Content includes tennis player profiles, music interviews, and takes on fashion, from tennis to surf and skate styles.

Miller Publishing Group will distribute one issue this year on newsstands and at tennis events and camps, with a ratebase of 175,000.  The title will publish quarterly in 2006.
 

FORBES expands

September 1, 2005 - An English language, pan-Asian edition of FORBES launched this week.  The biweekly issue of the business journal has an initial circulation of 80,000.
