October 31, 2005 - Fashion design house La Perla has launched its own magazine, LA PERLA MAGAZINE. The fashion collection will be augmented by articles on fashion and design, along with illustrations.

The title is a biannual publication and the debut issue is dedicated to the 2005 autumn/winter collection. 50,000 copies will be distributed to boutiques and shops that carry the clothing line.

Decorating mag for younger women launches

October 31, 2005 - Getting a handle on the "real basics of design and decorating" is the focus of REAL+LIFE DECORATING. Non-intimidating content includes practical tips, makeovers, how-to articles, design on a budget, and incorporating new and old elements. The target audience is women in their late twenties and early thirties.

Jill Waage is editor of this quarterly title from Meredith Corporation, publisher of sister titles BETTER HOMES AND GARDENS and TRADITIONAL HOMES. The premiere issue is currently on newsstands. Publishing frequency and the ratebase were not immediately known.
 

Kitchen remodeling mag to launch

October 25, 2005 - KITCHEN PORTFOLIO is all about the best in kitchen design.  The regional Metro New York launch issue is November 15 and highlights kitchen remodeling in New York, New Jersey and Connecticut.  The national issue launch is March 15, 2006 and will focus on upscale (over $100,000) kitchen design jobs and include kitchen gadgets, appliances and food.

Gay scene chronicled

October 21, 2005 - SCENE is a nationwide publication targeting gays from 25- to 49-years old. Content includes news, human interest stories, celebrity profiles, and community issues.

Lois Elfman is editor-in-chief of this bimonthly title from Lund Entertainment, Inc. Launched in February, the average circulation has been 34,000 copies and is distributed in bookstores, on newsstands, and in gay clubs and hotels.
 

International soccer coverage

October 21, 2005 - STRIKER is a recently launched magazine billed as "America's Ultimate Soccer Magazine." Content includes player profiles, team overviews, previews of upcoming events, and match coverage in both the U.S. and Europe.

New knitting mag debuts

October 19, 2005 - KNITSCENE is for knitters who "want more personal expression in their knits."  Articles include illustrated advice, profiles on designers, and projects that merge embroidery, sewing, crocheting, and beading with knitting.  The target audience is women between the ages of 18 and 35.

Pam Allen is editor of the quarterly title from Interweave Press.  The debut Fall/Winter 2005 issue can be found on newsstands as of October 19.
 

Regional sports lifestyle mag launches

October 19, 2005 - POST MAGAZINE is for Phoenix sports fans interested in what happens after the game.  The main focus is on area athletes and how they spend their free time, where they live, and the lifestyle.

Tom Zenner is editor-in-chief of the monthly title. 50,000 copies of the debut October issue have already been sold.
 

Fly fishing pubs expand to cover the east

October 18, 2005 - EASTERN FLY FISHING joins sister publications NORTHWEST FLY FISHING and SOUTHWEST FLY FISHING to address the specific sites and scenes of eastern North America and Canada.  Articles cover destinations, practical travel tips, angling history, techniques, products and gear, and area services.

Steve Probasco is editor-in-chief of this quarterly title.  The debut issue was Spring 2005.
 

West Hollywood captured

October 18, 2005 - WEHO MAGAZINE targets "all the diverse people who collectively make West Hollywood the vibrant, exciting, and hip place that it is."  The subtitle of the magazine is "where everything hip originates."

Calgary real estate target of new pub

October 18, 2005 - HOME TO HOME is set to help real estate buyers and sellers in the Calgary, Alberta, Canada marketplace.  Content includes industry insights and timely, relevant trends.

Divorced men have new mag

October 18, 2005 - With content specifically designed for divorced men, LEVING'S DIVORCE MAGAZINE is ready to educate, empower, enrich, and entertain this target audience.  Content will include articles on parenting, financial and legal issues, travel, health, and leisure.

Joe Englert is editor-in-chief.  The debut issue is Fall 2005 and therefore is most likely a quarterly title.  The ratebase and distribution, other than by subscription, was not immediately available.
 

American Indian business target of new pub

October 17, 2005 - The economic development and small business entrepreneurship of native Americans is the focus of REZ BIZ.  The magazine plans to "provide high-quality, relevant and value added tribal business and economic editorial content with a sensitivity to cultural norms of tribal communities."

Barry Heifner is managing editor of this monthly RB Publications title, which debuted with its October issue. Distribution is by subscription, within the Hopi reservation and Navajo Nation, and in select locations in Phoenix, Flagstaff and Albuquerque.

October 17, 2005 - THE NEW YORK TIMES MAGAZINE has added T:BEAUTY to its T:STYLE magazine line up.  The target audience is modern woman who are defining how our society views beauty.  Content includes fashion tips, grooming, nutrition insights, luxurious travel destinations, spas, and culinary pleasures.

The debut issue of this annual publication was Sunday, October 16.  Its sister publication, T:THE NEW YORK TIMES STYLE MAGAZINE is published 14 times per year.  Stefano Tonchi is style editor for THE NEW YORK TIMES MAGAZINE.
 

High-end style mag debuts

October 12, 2005 - The premier issue of MONTAGE is on newsstands. The magazine "blends hair, fashion, & beauty creating a single unique artistic vision." Celebrities, models and artists are showcased, with features on innovators, advice, the latest in color and creativity, and make-overs.

Chanda Jones Martin is editor-in-chief of this quarterly title. Distribution is by subscription and in bookstores and retail outlets. The ratebase was not immediately available.
 

Gambling lifestyle mag launched

October 12, 2005 - HIGHROLLER recently launched, covering the sport of gambling, casino entertainment lifestyle, and high-end products and services "for a new generation of players."

Mag moves from test to launch

October 11, 2005 - With five test issues under its belt, WOMEN'S HEALTH is now officially launching. Content includes "well-researched health features, results-oriented fitness and nutrition tips, down-top-earth fashion and beauty coverage, relevant advice on sex and relationships, sport and adventure ideas, and profiles of amazing women." Articles need to be smart, funny, and authentic.

Tina Johnson is editor-in-chief of this Rodale Inc. title. The premier November/December issue will be on newsstands October 18. Ten issues are planned for 2006 with an initial ratebase of 400,000. Additional distribution is by subscription.
 

New entertainment mag to hit theaters

October 10, 2005 - ONMOVIES will debut December 16 and be distributed in Lowes Cineplex Theaters. Editorial content is reported to be coming directly from The New York Times, the publisher of the title.

The publication schedule calls for 18 issues per year and will be digest-sized. Distribution is estimated at 1.25 million copies in cities including Boston, Chicago, Dallas, Los Angeles, New York, Seattle and Washington.
 

Truck manufacturer launches pub

October 10, 2005 - Peterbilt Motors Company has launched its first issue of PRIDE & CLASS, a magazine serving owner-operators of the company's brand name trucks. Content includes news, peer profiles and special offers.

Philanthropy subject of new pub

October 6, 2005 - CHARITY is poised to celebrate "philanthropy in communities of color." The target audience is nonprofit professionals, donors, and volunteers. The title focuses on profiles and information that philanthropic organizations can use to operate successfully.

The quarterly title is published by Strickland Publishing Company and will debut with its January issue. Circulation will be 100,000 copies.
 

New mag for defense communities

October 5, 2005 - Military and government systems leaders and decision-makers will soon have a new publication, DEFENSE SYSTEMS, that gives in-depth coverage to technology and policy issues facing the Defense Department.

Dawn S. Onley is editor. The bimonthly title, published by PostNewsweek Tech Media, debuts in January with a distribution of 40,000 copies to agency officials and managers.
 
Canadian regional captures native flavor

October 5, 2005 - Aboriginal youth between the ages of 14 and 18 are the focus of SHOUT, a new magazine for the Saskatchewan province. Topics include healthy life choices, the importance of schooling, stories involving role models, and anything else positive and fun.

The publication, created by a partnership between the First Nations University of Canada, MGM Communications, and the Regina Leader-Post/Saskatoon Star-Phoenix, is led by editor Michelle Hugli. Publishing frequency and circulation information was not immediately available.
 

Established pub enters NY market

October 5, 2005 - FRONT DESK, a regional publication of luxury lifestyle already found in Chicago, Los Angeles, and Dallas, now will also report on the New York City scene.

The debut issue is expected in March 2006, with six editions throughout the year. Distribution is to four- and five-star hotels and is published by Modern Luxury Media.
 

Residential design showcased in new mag

October 4, 2005 - ELEMENTS OF LIVING will soon offer home furnishing design project information, from sources to artisans and products. Home areas covered include interiors, exteriors, landscapes and gardens.
