Regional Miami magazine to launch

November 30, 2006 - MIAMI, a luxury lifestyle guide to shopping, dining, society, real estate, and arts and culture, is the 13th regional edition to be published by Modern Luxury Media.

The debut issue is expected in September 2007 and will have a circulation of 50,000 copies.  Approximately 50 percent will be delivered to affluent homes, with the remainder going to upscale hotels and other commercial locations in the area.
 

BEE WOMAN expands

November 30, 2006 - BEE WOMAN is launching a Dallas, TX edition, with 16 pages of added local editorial content.  The magazine is published by Femme Publications and is due out on newsstands December 15.
 

Regional MO magazine debuts

November 30, 2006 - BOTH SIDES OF THE BRIDGE is for residents and tourists in the Branson-Hollister, MO region.  Topics include local events, attractions, dining reviews, and personal profiles.

Earl Stresak is editor of this bi-monthly magazine, which debuted with the November/December issue.  The circulation is 8,000 copies and is distributed to area businesses.
 

GRIT changes course

November 28, 2006 - GRIT, the 124-year-old newspaper for rural Americans, transformed into a glossy magazine with a different target audience this September.  The publication now addresses people who have "gone back to their rural roots or ventured into the country for the first time." The editorial focus is on stimulating, entertaining, and educating these people with articles on country living basics, gadgets and technology to get routine tasks accomplished, and the production and preparation of self-grown food.

K.C. Compton continues to edit this Ogden Publications title, which switched from monthly distribution to 24 issues per year.

New Canadian magazine from Muslim viewpoint

November 28, 2006 - AVER is a "cross-Canada Muslim youth magazine." Topics range from traditional recipes to views on modern culture, human rights, Islam, Muslim style, and Mother Earth.

Tahmina Reza works with four additional editorial staff members to publish this quarterly magazine, which ran a test issue last January.  The new issue was launched in Toronto this month and distributed on newsstands.
 

Desert living chronicled in new magazine

November 28, 2006 - DESERT CURRENTS will cover the people, places and things in and around the Mojave Desert region and surrounding areas.  Topic coverage will include history, destinations of interest, food, and health.

The monthly magazine, published by the News West Publishing division of Brehm Communications, is slated to debut in late January.  Copies will be distributed in the Mohave Valley Daily News, as well as by direct mail and newsstand locations in Arizona, Nevada and California.  The publication is interested in hearing from freelance writers, who should contact associate editor M.J. New magazine to cover southern culture

November 28, 2006 - GARDEN & GUN will explore the traditions, lifestyles and natural heritage of Southern America.

The magazine, an Evening Post Publishing Co. title, will be overseen by publisher Rebecca Wesson Darwin.  A spring debut is planned and distribution is expected throughout the Southeast and Caribbean. Additional information was not immediately available.
 

Home decor magazine to launch in spring

November 28, 2006 - OUR HOUSE is all about upscale furniture and household accessories, but will also cover gardening, travel and outdoor sports.

Tish Leizens is editor and publisher of this quarterly magazine, which is due to launch in March 2007.  Initial distribution to 8,000 affluent households will concentrate on New York City and the New York counties of Orange and Rockland.  Additional distribution will be found in northeast Pennsylvania, Sussex and Warren counties in New Jersey, and Sullivan county in New York.

Magazine about El Paso launches

November 28, 2006 - EL PASOAN is a new regional magazine for both residents and visitors in El Paso, TX.  The focus is on businesses, people, events and the culture of the area.

Lisa Degliantoni is an editor with the publisher, El Paso Media Group.  The recently launched magazine is published monthly and distributed at downtown businesses.  Additional information was not immediately available.

Tween lifestyle magazine launches

November 20, 2006 - SIX78TH: THE JUNIOR HIGH LIFESTYLE MAGAZINE targets 10- to 14-year-old girls with "a realistic view of the transition a girl experiences during junior high."   The tone for profiles, fashion articles, real stories, sports features, and lifestyle pieces should be intelligent and trendy.

Angie Rangel is editor of this bi-monthly magazine, which launches its premier issue on newsstands and in bookstores throughout the U.S. and Canada tomorrow.  The next issue will be the January/February 2007 issue.
 
NYC theater scene covered in new magazine

November 20, 2006 - BROADWAY MAGAZINE serves both the first time ticket-buyer and the most passionate stage aficionado interested in live New York City theater, whether it is a Broadway show or off Broadway. Topics include show coverage, star interviews, and myths/magic, as well as dining and city guides.

The bi-monthly magazine will debut with its March/April 2007 issue. 80,000 copies will be hand delivered to people purchasing tickets, with another 70,000 copies distributed at area visitor venues.  Additional information was not immediately available.
 

New regional Piedmont magazine planned

November 20, 2006 - THE PIEDMONT VIRGINIAN will serve as a clearing house for information about the region, with feature articles on the outdoors, the local food chain, area landmarks, area artists, and how-to guides.  A small amount of literary offerings will also be accepted.

New Windows operating system magazine to launch

November 20, 2006 - WINDOWS VISTA: THE OFFICIAL MAGAZINE, currently in publication in the UK, will launch a North American edition. Coverage will include articles about the software and hardware related to Microsoft's Windows Vista operating system, with how-to and expert advice, as well as product detail.

Robert Strohmeyer will serve as editor of this monthly Future US magazine, which is due to debut in March.  Additional information was not immediately available.

Fashion magazine for infants launched

November 20, 2006 - BABY COUTURE is a fashion magazine aimed at 22- to 42-year-old women who are interested in the latest fashions for their infants and toddlers.  The focus is on high-end celebrity styles and product/service coverage includes clothes, shoes, furniture, food, gear, and getaways.

Kariz Medina-Favis is editor-in-chief of this quarterly magazine, which debuted recently with a distribution of 100,000 copies.
 

Editorial shift at FAMILY CIRCLE

November 20, 2006 - FAMILY CIRCLE is now targeting mothers with teenage children as well as preteen and teen children themselves.  Additional coverage will focus on the home, family, health, cooking, and buying big-ticket household items.

Editor Linda Fears continues to lead this Meredith service title.
 

Regional business magazine debuts

November 15, 2006 - BUSINESS NATION concentrates on minority-owned businesses in the Twin Cities area that are looking for information on investors, financing, customers and boosting sales, networking, and training.

Dia Satori and Jae Bryson oversee the publication, which launched in September.  The second issue is due out in late November and 10,000 copies will be distributed to area businesses, college campuses, and by subscription.
 

Regional Long Island magazine to launch

November 15, 2006 - CANVAS targets residents of Long Island, NY who are interested in improving their life, health, and future.  Topics range from arts and culture to news, current events, home, family, pets, travel, and the spiritual world.

Ramin Ganeshram is editor-in-chief of this monthly magazine, which will launch in December.  25,000 copies will be distributed to area health and wellness-related businesses and institutions of learning.  The website is http://www.canvasli.com.
 

New magazine about teen style

November 10, 2006 - PROJECT Y, an offshoot of INSTYLE magazine, will target 16- to 20-year-olds with coverage on celebrities, fashion, style, beauty and events.

Charla Lawhon, managing editor of INSTYLE, is overseeing this quarterly Time Inc. publication.  The debut March issue is expected to reach 400,000 INSTYLE subscribers, along with distribution on newsstands near college campuses and shopping centers.
 

New skiing magazine for women

November 15, 2006 - WOMEN'S SKIING is all about gear guides, profiles of female athletes, and fashion. Tracy Ross is editor of this Mountain Sports Media magazine, which publishes sister titles SKI and SKIING.

The debut issue will be mailed as a bonus to 100,000 woman subscribers of SKIING.  The company plans on publishing up to four issues in 2007.
 

Lipidology journal to launch

November 10, 2006 - The JOURNAL OF CLINICAL LIPIDOLOGY is for medical doctors and other healthcare professionals interested in the wide scope of lipid metabolism.  Coverage will include "lipidology as it is practiced in the treatment setting, recent developments in pharmacological research, reports of treatment and trials, case studies, the impact of lifestyle modification, and similar academic material of interest to the practitioner."

W. Virgil Brown, MD is editor of this bi-monthly publication, a collaboration between Elsevier and the National Lipid Association.  The debut issue is due out in March 2007 and will be distributed by subscription.

Rapper launches magazine

November 10, 2006 - DAPPER is a new general entertainment and lifestyle magazine.  It is being published by the Grand Hustle team, which is comprised of southern rap artists.

The monthly publication is due out in December and will be distributed in stores and on newsstands nationwide. Additional information was not immediately available.
 

New style magazine being tested

November 10, 2006 - HOLIDAY WITH MATTHEW MEAD is all about practical entertaining, decorating, cooking, and style.  Items used are found in local food and discount stores and the focus is to create and update home traditions.

Publisher Meredith Corp. distributed 400,000 copies to nationwide newsstands on Tuesday, November 7.  If the test issue sells well, Mead will be given the opportunity to continue producing a magazine, tentatively titled STUDIO WITH MATTHEW MEAD.
 

Women's business magazine launches

November 10, 2006 - DIVAPRENEURS is for women small business owners and entrepreneurs interested in features, profiles, tips and tools "vital to their business success and enhancement."  One interesting feature is "My Philanthropic Heart," which will report on community nonprofit companies and beneficial relationships with women-centric businesses.

Regional wedding magazine to debut

November 10, 2006 - GALA WEDDINGS MAGAZINE is for newly engaged couples in the New England area.  Topics are specific to the initial stages of wedding planning, including budget, timeframe, wedding style and reception sites.

Cori Russell is editor-in-chief of this bi-annual magazine, which is published by Hawthorn Publications.  The debut issue will be available at New England-area jewelers and newsstands in December.
 

Regional women's magazine to debut

November 6, 2006 - BLUSH is for Chattanooga women interested in power, passion, and possibilities.  Topics range from local flavor to fashionable finds.

Laura Knox is editor of this Blush Publishing magazine, which is set to debut this month.  Copies will be distributed to 200 area locations.  Additional information was not immediately available.
 

Wedding magazine launches

November 6, 2006 - THE BRIDE & BLOOM is a wedding planning magazine that covers all the bases, from color selection and locations to coordinators and first-hand tips from newlyweds who share problems encountered and suggested solutions.

The quarterly magazine debuted earlier this year and can be found nationally at most bookstores and on newsstands. Additional information was not immediately available.
 

New York luxury magazine to relaunch

November 3, 2006 - ABSOLUTE magazine is getting ready to return to the New York market following a six month absence. The editorial focus will remain the same: luxury home decor and design with additional coverage on fashion, beauty and fitness, fine dining, art, real estate and travel.

The bimonthly publishing schedule will begin with the October/November issue. Peter Webster is the new executive editor and Bobbie Dell'Aquilo is the managing editor of this Absolute Publishing magazine, a division of Hour Media. Distribution will be to 65,000 wealthy New York residents.
 

Real estate magazine starts up in Spokane

November 3, 2006 - BUILDING is all about the "real estate and development industry in the Spokane and North Idaho region."  It is directed towards property and home owners, builders, real estate brokers, financial officers and contractors.

Editor Linn Parish oversees this monthly ViVo Publications magazine, which will debut in January.  125,000 copies will be distributed to area businesses in the home building, real estate and financial industries.
 

Canadian technology lifestyle magazine debuts

November 3, 2006 - CANADIAN SMART LIVING targets a 30- to 54-year-old demographic interested in how to use "technology to make their lives easier and their leisure activities more enjoyable."  News and review articles cover home automation and theater projects, digital cameras, MP3 players, and handheld computers, and are delivered with a minimum of tech-talk jargon.

Dave Webb is editor of this quarterly Transcontinental Media title, which debuted in September with the Fall 2006 issue.  Additional information was not immediately available.
 

Regional magazine launched

November 3, 2006 - FLORIDA WEDDINGS AND SPECIAL EVENTS is aimed at southwest Florida brides-to-be as well as girls approaching their Quinceanera.  Coverage is about the latest trends, styles, and fashions for these events and the magazine is published in both English and Spanish.

Isabel Albuerne is editor of this quarterly magazine, which debuted with the Spring 2006 issue. The title is distributed in area Blockbuster stores and by subscription.
 

American life to be chronicled in new magazine

November 3, 2006 - THE AMERICAN will focus on business, economics and public affairs.  In addition, coverage will be given to politics, the media, food, and fashion.

James K. Glassman is editor-in-chief of this bimonthly magazine, which is published by the American Enterprise Institute.  The premier issue is due out sometime this month and will be distributed by subscription.
 

New magazine targets African women immigrants

November 3, 2006 - KITU KIZURI, which means something beautiful, targets African women who have immigrated to North America and are professionally employed, educated, and from 25- to 55-years old.  Topics will range from money and entrepreneurship to health, food, relationships, fashion, travel and music.

November 3, 2006 - JAZZED is for independent and school jazz educators who are seeking practical ideas regarding performance methods, improvisation, repertoire, recording techniques, and travel and festival opportunities.  In-depth profiles will focus on successful jazz educators and performers.

Publisher Richard E. Kessel oversees the bimonthly magazine, which is published by Symphony Publishing.  The premiere October/November issue will officially debut in January at the 2007 International Association of Jazz Educators convention.
 

Whole-woman approach to new pregnancy magazine

November 1, 2006 - PREGNANCY & NEWBORN focuses on women and their relationships, careers, fashion and beauty, as well as prenatal health, pregnancy tips, and childrearing through the first year.

New magazine about water sports

November 1, 2006 - PADDLING LIFE targets kayakers, rafters, and canoeists and will offer features articles, news items, and profiles.  A separate annual gear guide is planned.

New magazine all about choosing toys wisely

November 1, 2006 - TOY TIPS & PARENTING HINTS is aimed at parents seeking information on making informed toy choices for their children.  At the heart of the magazine is toy reviews that are "based on a product's ability to develop a child's intellectual, social and motor skills, and to enhance the child's personality." In addition, parenting advice and child development research studies are covered.

Marianne Szymanski oversees this quarterly magazine, which debuted with the September issue.  Distribution is at book and food stores and on newsstands.

November 1, 2006 - BEACHBLVD will target residents of southern Mississippi and offer articles on life and leisure, homes and gardens, food and dining, and the people who populate the area.

The debut issue is due out in late January and will be published six times a year by Gulf Publishing Co., publishers of the Sun Herald newspaper.  A distribution of 10,000 copies to area shops and by subscription is expected.

New magazine for litigation professionals

November 1, 2006 - LITIGATION SUPPORT TODAY is set to help litigation professionals at law firms, multinational corporations, and government divisions perform more effectively and build career pathways.  Features provide "insight into the latest events, developments and activities about the profession, the people and the happenings that are driving the field forward.

Publisher Charles Buckwalter oversees this Conexion International Media title, which debuted in August.  Quarterly publication will begin in February 2007.  A controlled circulation of 10,200 copies will be distributed in the U.S., Canada, and the U.K.
 

Middle East lifestyle coverage in new magazine

November 1, 2006 - ALEF MAGAZINE is a new magazine that focuses on Arab and Muslim fashion and luxury.  Although the content directly relates to a Middle East sensibility, the editorial office is based in New York City.

Rheumatology magazine launches this month

November 1, 2006 - THE RHEUMATOLOGIST is for all health professionals interested in this field of study.  Topics will include general research, clinical trends, profiles of key industry leaders, public policy, legislative trends, and career development.

David Pisetsky, M.D., PhD. is the physician editor of this magazine partnership between John Wiley & Sons and the American College of Rheumatology.  The debut issue is expected in mid-November and monthly publication will begin in January 2007.
