UK soccer magazine comes to North America

May 30, 2006 - FAIR GAME will chronicle every level of women's soccer in the US and Canada. From youth to national teams, news and events are featured along with game improvement tips, injury avoidance, and interviews.

Although the magazine has been published in the UK for several years by Fair Game Publishing Limited, the US/Canada edition debuted recently and has a US-based editor, Jennifer O'Neill.  The initial publishing frequency is bi-monthly.
 

New urban lifestyle magazine debuts

May 30, 2006 - ELAN EXTREME is about fashion, entertainment, sports, health and community.  The target audience is urban hip males and females from 18- to 36-years-old.

Published bi-monthly, the recent debut issue had a circulation of 50,000 copies nationwide.  Distribution is in book, music, fashion, and beauty and health stores.
 

Crafting goes high-tech

May 26, 2006 - CREATIVE TECHNIQUES "shows you how to combine ever-evolving technology with traditional craft techniques to make gorgeous home décor items and stunning fashion accessories."  The focus is on how to use a digital camera, software, scanner, printer, and computer to design projects.

PC Smart and Natalie Rhinesmith are co-editors of this quarterly magazine from All American Crafts.  The publication debuts with its Summer 2006 issue.
 

New medical magazine launches

May 26, 2006 - NMA HEALTHY LIVING is a recently launched publication for African-American doctors and their patients.  Topics cover prevention, remedies, news, and timely issues, with a focus on "information in everyday language." The quarterly magazine is the official publication of the National Medical Association.  Additional information was not immediately available.
 

Regional Florida magazine launches

May 26, 2006 - SWEETTEA JOURNAL recently debuted chronicling the culture, history and style of northwest Florida.

Todd Keith is editor of this bi-annual magazine from SweetTea Publishing.  The Fall issue is in the planning stages.
 

New magazine for hot crafting trend

May 25, 2006 - ADORN is a new magazine that defines what it means to be "crafty" through embellishment.  Articles "will inspire your creativity and help you develop your own personal style" whether it is about fashion, home decorating or craft projects.

Christina Batch is editor-in-chief of this quarterly title, published by SoHo Publishing.  The Summer debut issue is due out in June and will be distributed in craft outlets and chain stores as well as select retail shops.

New upscale men's lifestyle magazine

May 25, 2006 - EXOTIC, ADVENTURE, AND TRAVEL MAGAZINE (E.A.T.) is all about taking each "reader through a journey of the world of travel using breathtaking photos of the exotic places and women."  Additional coverage is given to sports, cars and gadgets.

The publication is headquartered in Los Angeles.  Additional details were not immediately available.
 

New regional magazine about minorities

May 25, 2006 - HOW WE LIVE "features the homes, careers, and successes of minorities."  Dana Tucker oversees the quarterly magazine, which debut recently.

With headquarters in Columbia, SC, distribution is expected to increase as select book and grocery stores throughout the Southeast begin carrying the publication in coming months.
 

Parents, kids, and sports

May 25, 2006 - E SPORTS PARENT N is planning to target the parents of kids playing organized sports.  A specific editorial focus was not immediately available.

The Disney-owned ESPN magazine will start out online in 2006 and then publish in print for 2007, with 10 planned issues per year.  An initial circulation of 350,000 copies is anticipated.
 

Regional lifestyle magazine launches

May 24, 2006 - FIFTEEN501 is a new lifestyle magazine covering Chatham, Orange and Durham Counties of North Carolina.  Topics include things to do around town, travel destinations statewide, and local beauty, fashion, home interior, landscaping, health, education and finance advice.

Elizabeth Shugg is editor of this quarterly title from Weiss & Hughes Publishing, publishers of sister title WAKE LIVING.  22,500 copies will be distributed at area retail shops and upscale businesses starting with the Summer debut issue.
 

New magazine covers Texas baseball

May 23, 2006 - TOTAL TEXAS BASEBALL reports the stories and news surrounding the state's major and minor league teams, as well as university, college, junior college, and high school games.

Kurt Daniels is editor of this publication, which debuted with the April issue and will publish 10 issues per year.  10,000 copies are distributed to area baseball venues and is available by subscription.
 

Culture magazine takes shape

May 23, 2006 - The world of film, art and music are chronicled in a new magazine: PUBLIC.  The focus is to pull "underexposed creations and views into new light," primarily from Miami, Los Angeles, and New York.  The target audience is 25- to 50-year olds.

Rick Delgado oversees this quarterly title recently launched by Page Six Hundred Ninety Four.  Distribution is nationwide and by subscription and the website is http://www.publicmag.com.
 

Building design magazine to launch

May 19, 2006 - ARCHITECT is a new business-to-business magazine capitalizing on the growth in non-residential construction.  The target audience is practicing architects and articles will include information and inspiration about design, practice enhancement and expansion, and peer connection.

Ned Cramer is editor-in-chief of this Hanley Wood publication.  Two issues are planned for 2006 with a monthly schedule for 2007.
 

New magazine planned for gaming affiliates

May 19, 2006 - A gaming affiliate magazine is taking shape, with "analysis of the latest and emerging trends, implementation of new technologies, key business strategies, marketing tips and online advertising methods."

A joint venture between IGAMING BUSINESS and Casino Affiliate Programs, the un-named quarterly magazine is due to launch in September.  A distribution of 5,000 copies to affiliates is planned, with distribution at three conventions as well.
 

Specialty travel magazine launches

May 19, 2006 - GIRLFRIEND GETAWAYS is all about the growing trend of women joining each other on travel adventures.  Content includes travel according to interests, time allocation, and package deals.

The debut Summer 2006 issue is on newsstands and in bookstores.  The publisher is Newsweek Budget Travel, Inc.  No additional information was immediately available.
 

New women's business magazine launches

May 19, 2006 - EMPOWERING WOMEN is a new lifestyle magazine for entrepreneurial women.  Topics range from getting more out of business and family life, direct selling opportunities and success stories, and tips from authors and experts.

Six issues are planned per year by publisher PlusPublishing.  The June 2006 debut has arrived on newsstands.

May 17, 2006 - CATS & DOGS OF CHARLOTTE is an upscale magazine for this North Carolina city featuring photographic essays, articles from local veterinarians, product news, and area celebrities with their pets.

Publisher Sara Abrams oversees the quarterly title, which is published by Abrams Media Group. Distribution is to pet-related retail and service businesses.
 

New magazine about franchise opportunities

May 17, 2006 - FRANCHISE MARKET MAGAZINE targets small business entrepreneurs interested in franchise insights and news. Topics range from owning and managing a small business to market trends and start-up strategies.

The quarterly magazine, published by Reni Publishing, which also produces SMALL BUSINESS RESOURCE, will be distributed at trade shows and to SCORE offices nationwide. The Spring 2006 debut issue has an initial circulation of 200,000 copies.
 

NIH puts together healthcare magazine

May 16, 2006 - MEDLINEPLUS MAGAZINE is a new authoritative medical and healthcare guide for patients and families.  The focus is on sharing health-related experiences and stories as well as health news and reports.

Women's shopping magazine to launch

May 16, 2006 - SHOPSMART is preparing to offer shopping tips, product reviews, and advice on getting the most from a product purchase.  The target audience is women 30 and over interested in "best of the best" shopping information.

Lisa Lee Freeman is editor of the quarterly magazine, whose sister title CONSUMER REPORTS is also published by Consumers Union.  800,000 copies will be distributed nationwide in leading book and food stores, with the debut issue available on August 1.
 

Spin-off from ROBB REPORT

May 12, 2006 - ROBB REPORT LUXURY RESORTS is aimed toward affluent people seeking getaways.  Features include private island adventures, golf resorts, ski chalets, and hidden destinations that "offer privacy and exclusivity."

The editors of ROBB REPORT oversee the new spin-off from CurtCo Robb Media.  Two issues will be published each year.
 

Regional women's magazine debuts next week

May 12, 2006 - HELEN is targeted towards women in Greater Lafayette, IN.  The publication will "feature the stories of the women of this community, as well as information on health and beauty, fashion, personal finance, business, home and garden, and family life, all with a local tie-in."

Sharon Martin is editor of this bi-monthly magazine, published by Full Moon Communications & Design.  An initial circulation of 2,500 copies will be distributed to area retail and office locations.  Subscriptions will be available in the near future.
 

Disaster response magazine launches

May 12, 2006 - EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT features articles on emergency management, prevention, and preparedness and recovery, with an emphasis on today's available tools and technology.  Both homeland security and natural disaster events are covered.

The quarterly magazine, published by e.Republic, debuts this month with a circulation of 40,000 copies.

May 9, 2006 - PIEDMONT MAGAZINE is a new business magazine for the central Virginia-North Carolina border area including Patrick, Henry, Pittslyvania and Rockingham Counties.  The focus is on the area's economic growth, with each issue covering a single theme:  tourism for the debut Summer issue and community revitalization and downtown development in the Fall issue.  Additional articles will include profiles, interviews, book reviews, and area travel.

Ria Romano is editor of this quarterly magazine.  25,000 copies will be distributed to high income homes and premier venues.  The exact launch date was not immediately available.
 

New magazine for central New York

May 3, 2006 - THE GOOD LIFE: CENTRAL NEW YORK MAGAZINE debuts this week in Onondaga County and the town of Cazenovia in Madison County, NY.  Article topics include classic cars, opera, golf, home design, travel, fashion, philanthropy, the arts, and profiles of area residents and professionals.

Timothy Atseff is the editor of this bi-monthly title, which is published by The Post-Standard.  16,500 copies will be distributed to area residents with an income about $125,000 and to local food, book, and music stores.
 

SEVENTEEN branches out

May 2, 2006 - DELUXE is a new magazine covering "West Coast luxury fashion."  The debut issue will be bundled with SEVENTEEN's September issue, but only to those households with an income over $75,000.

Rachel Zoe is editor of the supplement, whose publication frequency is unknown.  An additional 50,000 copies will be available in retail stores.
