East Texas woman's mag debuts

May 31, 2005 - THE JOURNEY is a new publication serving women in the Angelina and Nacogdoches counties of Texas.  The focus is on sharing strengths, weaknesses, and stories of the great talent and lives of local women.

Regular features also cover community organizations, local gifts and products, useful solutions for everyday life, relationships, family and parenting, food preparation, and community events.

The monthly title, with owner/CEO Stephanie Oliver at the helm, can be found throughout the area for free, and a subscription price of $12 per year.
 

New mag for professional women

May 30, 2005 - PINK, set to debut June 14, will target women executives, managers, entrepreneurs, and thought leaders, ages 27 to 55.  The format will allow "the time-constrained female executive to connect with a network of others and capture the tools of how such women do it all."  The net result is greater professional and personal success.

Regular features include profiles, business strategies, top trends, creative tools and tactics to succeed, tips on boosting revenue, office questions, fashion, and solutions for balancing work and life.

The founding editor is Cynthia Good.  100,000 copies of this bi-monthly publication will be distributed on newsstands, with a cover price of $3.95.  Additional distribution will go to office buildings, gourmet grocers, key market airports, and women's business group networks.  The annual subscription is $18.
 

New mag for classic car enthusiasts

May 24, 2005 - MOTOR TREND CLASSIC is a new magazine looking to reconnect the baby boom generation with the cars of their youth.  The focus is on automobiles from 1949 to 1989, with "real stories about people and their classic cars."  Additional topics include revealing personality pieces, untold stories, and unique vehicle comparisons.

With editor-in-chief Angus MacKenzie at the helm, the Primedia Automotive Group publication debuts in August, one of two issues for 2005.  The publishing schedule switches to bi-monthly in 2006.  Initial circulation is 200,000.

Lifestyle mag for metro New York launches

May 20, 2005 - METROHOUSE is a new title serving homebuyers and homeowners in the Westchester and Rockland areas of New York, Fairfield County in Connecticut, and Bergen County in New Jersey.  The focus is expert advice about homeownership, trends in home design, interior design, and home improvement.  In addition, up-to-date products and services for home, garden, and regional art are included.

Michelle McCarthy is editor of this free monthly magazine published by Luminary Publishing. The June premier issue was distributed throughout the coverage area.  Sister publications include UPSTATE HOUSE and HEALTHY LIVING.
 

Motorcycle rider pub launched

May 20, 2005 - BIKERSINK debuted its premier issue this month as a "lifestyle entertainment magazine" for motorcycle riders.  The focus is about getting into the mindset of riding and tattoos and looking cool doing it, no matter what make or model a person rides.

What is not included is nudity, women in bikinis, or the internal workings of a bike.

The free monthly magazine distributed approximately 10,000 copies in the Louisville, Ky. area.  Co-owners are Neal Johnson and Holly Chrappa.
 

Affluent Floridians get new home design pub

May 17, 2005 - FLORIDA INSIDEOUT launched in April with a focus on the latest trends in stylish interior home design for affluent Floridians, especially those in the Miami and Miami Beach areas.  The title is helping readers "pick refrigerators, beds, carpets and cabinets."  The bi-monthly magazine, published by Sobe News Inc, will be distributed nationally with a cover price of $4.99 and a yearly subscription rate of $19.99.  OCEAN DRIVE is a sister publication.

New California lifestyle mag planned

May 17, 2005 - A new luxury magazine for California women should be on the market in September and is simply titled C.  Editorial director Michael Coady noted, "you have to think of California as a separate country."  The publication will be based in Santa Monica and plans ten issues per year with a paid circulation of 100,000.  Distribution will be through supermarkets, hotels, and resorts.
 

New weekly mag for PC enthusiasts to launch July 4th

May 17, 2005 - The digital lifestyle will be covered by PC NEWS WEEKLY, a new title focusing on the "world's greatest computers and gadgets" as well as up-to-the-minute PC technology news and "timely out-of-box, hands-on product reviews.  Check the publication's six month editorial calendar at http://www.pcnewsweeklymag.com/mediakit.pdf.  The title will be distributed electronically in an all-digital format to over 100,000 qualified subscribers each Monday.  The publisher is Possibility Media.

.Luxury and rare cars chronicled by AUTO AFICIONADO

May 17, 2005 - Offering a "glimpse into the automobiles and lifestyles of the elite," AUTO AFICIONADO launched in May for enthusiasts.  Future plans for this bi-monthly title include coverage of boats and planes.  The editor is Larry Crane and the magazine, from publisher Auto Aficionado Inc., launched with a targeted circulation of 25,000, with growth to 80,000 anticipated.  Distribution is through direct mail and auto museums.  The website is http://www.autoaficionado.net/.  If timely magazine news is important to you, take a minute to subscribe to Meg's newsletter.  You will find the sign-up box in the left column.

Southern rap scene covered in THE DIRTY

May 3, 2005 - The voice of southern hip-hop culture is what THE DIRTY is hoping to capture. Feature articles focus on artists and record labels south of the Mason/Dixon Line.  Planned as a bi-monthly, it is still a toss up whether this title will generate the needed advertising funds to keep going.  The debut issue was distributed for free to local shops in Little Rock, Arkansas.  Pamela Bailey is editor.

SATISFACTION for baby boom generation

May 2, 2005 - A new regional lifestyle pub targeted towards affluent baby boomers, 55- to 64-years old, is set to address career options, travel, learning, fitness, and community service.  Serving readers in the greater Chicago area, SATISFACTION seeks to add focus "on information readers can put into action" and reflects issues this generation faces as it marks a turning point in their lives.  Additional topics include money, real estate, family and relationships, consumer indulgences, and local resources.

New travel mag for military history buffs

May 2, 2005 - Epic military history events are chronicled in RECON, a new publication aimed at history buffs who also seek information on practical travel aspects of visiting historic sites.  Both U.S. and international destinations are covered.  The bi-monthly magazine will include museums and book and movie reviews, as well as non-military options for travel companions who do not necessarily share the same zeal for past battles.   Kevin Dennehy is the editor.  The website is http://www.reconcommunications.com.

True crime pub to finally debut in June

May 2, 2005 - A new magazine, JUSTICE, is gearing up to gratify American's love of behind-the-scenes information.  In this case it is all about current crime stories on the tip of everyone's tongue.In addition, the bi-monthly publication will feature "regular folks who buck the system and get justice," epic trials, celebrity scandals, court fights, and off-the-wall cases.  Randall Lane is editor-in-chief.  The title will debut in Wal-Mart stores on June 21 with 250,000 copies.

New food mag slated for launch in September

May 2, 2005 - EVERY DAY WITH RACHAEL RAY will feature recipes, food-related travel and entertaining, and everything else will be "one degree of separation from food."  This includes chef profiles, home cooks, and other food celebrities besides Ms. Ray.  Kitty Morgan has been named editor, with Silvana Nardone as executive food editor.  The newsstand-based magazine will be published quarterly until Spring 2006 and then publisher Reader's Digest Association Inc plans for ten issues per year.  An initial distribution of 650,000 copies is anticipated with a cover price of $3.99.
