Another celebrity magazine to launch

May 21, 2004 - Bauer Publications will launch a new celebrity-friendly magazine, Life & Style Weekly, this coming November.

Following the lead of its other celebrity title, InTouch, the new magazine will be priced at $1.99 - lower than established competitors such as People, Us Weekly and Star, which all are selling at $3.29. But Life & Style Weekly will be different in that it will publish positive success stories of celebrities.

The editor is Sheryl Berk.

New lifestyle magazine for professional athletes won't be on the newsstand

May 21, 2004 - How professional athletes live on and off the field will be one topic covered by a new quarterly launching next month. But you'll have to be one of the 25,000 professional athletes, team owners, executives and industry insiders on their controlled circulation list to see it. It won't be available on the newstand.

OT will have a business/lifestyle focus with news, insights, advance notice of trends, and practical real world advice about developments related to the professional sports industry.

BusinessWeek is spinning off small biz mag

May 20, 2004 - BusinessWeek SmallBiz will launch in June. From the publishers of BusinessWeek, it will use the resources of the established financial magazine.

It will be aimed at small business owners and executives and topics will range from finance and economic trends to technology and business books. The stand-alone title will be published quarterly and have an initial circulation of 500,000 copies. It will be distributed mainly to subscribers of BusinessWeek, as a free supplement.

Kimberly Weisul is the editor.

"Mother-approved" magazine for teen girls launched

May 13 - Justine, a wholesome magazine that will be hip enough for teens while still pleasing to parents, has published its premiere issue.

The title is aimed at young women from juniors in high school to juniors in college (approximately ages 14 to 21). Jana Pettey is the publisher and editorial director.

New Oprah shelter magazine to test

May 11, 2004 - After the success of O, The Oprah Magazine, the publisher, which is a co-venture between Hearst Magazines and Harpo Print LLC, has launched O at Home.

It is an Oprah-inspired publication that will help readers create a home that reflects their personal style and will appear - on newsstand only - twice in 2004 - in May and October.

The editor-in-chief is Amy Gross but the magazine will also be overseen by Oprah herself. There will be features on decorating, makeovers, quality products, collecting, entertaining, organizing, home finance, and more. "O at Home is for readers who want their homes to reflect their lives and passions - not just trends," said Gross.

The first special issue of O at Home features 164 total pages. It will have a rate base of 600,000 and a cover price of $3.95.
