Utne Reader has not named a new editor, following the recent resignation of Cathy Madison. (May 31)

American Business Media reported that while magazine titles may still be the hot commodity, their web site counterparts are starting to produce revenue, a sharp contrast from just three years ago. ABM's recent survey shows that 41 percent of title's web sites are generating revenues in excess of cost. Writers need to check contracts to make sure they understand how electronic rights are being handled. (May 31)

Nursing 2000, Nursing Management and five other medical titles will now be published by Wolters Kluwer International Health & Science following its purchase of Springhouse Corporation, the health and anatomical information publisher. (May 31)

Hot.dot, a new title focused on bringing hot product and web site news to educated women in their mid-30's, will be launched by publisher Southern Progress Group under the guidance of Mark Mayfield, editor of Southern Accents. The bimonthly title will appear at newsstands with an initial circulation of 450,000 and be published monthly by 2002. (May 31)

Hemmings Rods & Performance, a new bimonthly title from Hemmings Motor News, will feature editorials, product reviews and design analysis for hot rod enthusiasts. (May 31)

Hometown Cooking, a new bimonthly food title from publisher Meredith Corporation, will feature recipes from community cookbooks as well as time-saving, effort-saving tips and ideas for entertaining. (May 31)

Motor Trends En Espanol will provide coverage of current automotive industry information as well as the historic and futuristic perspective. The title is a joint venture between Emap USA and Ideas Publishing Group. (May 31)

Harper's Bazaar has a new online senior editor, Francesca Castagnoli, who was a senior writer at CosmoGirl.

Los Angeles Magazine has a new editor-in-chief, Kit Rachlis. He is currently a senior editor at Los Angeles Times. He will be at his new desk on June 19. (May 25)

More has a new editor, Susan Crandell. (May 25)

National Geographic is expanding its international issues. All will consist to 80-plus percent of content from the English version with the rest coming from the local staff. By January 2001 there will be 18 editions with six more planned. (May 24)

Organic Style is a new magazine being tested by Rodale. A spin-off of Organic Gardening, it will go beyond gardening to a complete organic lifestyle including where-to-eat, what-to-wear, vacations, etc. (May 25)

Snoworld has a new owner, Times Mirror Magazines, which bought a division of Warren Miller Entertainment. The Los Angeles-based new owner also publishes SKI Magazine and Skiing, as well as Field and Stream and Outdoor Life. (May 25)

Working Mother has four new editors, among them Sharman Stein and Jackie Day Packel, who have been named senior editors and will be responsible for feature articles. (May 25)

Elle has named a new Editor-in-Chief, Roberta Myers, who will begin her position on June 5. Ms. Myers, formerly a senior editor at Elle, was most recently the Editor-in-Chief of Mirabella. (May 22)

George has appointed a new managing editor, Tom Nawrocki, formerly Worth's senior editor. (May 22)

New York Jury Verdict Reporter will now be published by American Lawyer Media, the national and regional legal publishing firm which recently purchased the title's parent company Moran Publishing Company. (May 22)

Real Simple has an interim managing editor, Carrie Tuhy, following the recent resignation of Susan Wyland. A permanent replacement is being sought. (May 22)

ShowBiz Weekly announced a new editor, Scott Lien. (May 17)

Horse International & JUMP! appointed a new executive editor, Maria Neuman, an original founding member of the JUMP! Magazine title which merged with Horse International on April 1. (May 17)

Expedia Travels has named a new executive editor, Rosemary Ellis, for both the print title and web site. (May 17)

Harper's Bazaar appointed a new deputy editor, Jennifer Pierce Barr, formerly the managing editor at Elle. (May 17)

Vancouver Lifestyles, Autofile and @Home will now be published by new owner 3NET MEDIA who purchased Pacific Magazine Publishing Ltd. (May 17)

Financial Advisor, due to launch in July, appointed as editorial director, Evan Simonoff, formerly the editor-in-chief at Financial Planning. (May 17)

Time Inc. has named a new editor-at-large, Henry Muller, formerly the editorial director. In addition, a new managing editor has been appointed, Isolde Motley, who had been managing editor of Life, which recently ceased publication. (May 15)

Time.com has named a new managing editor, Richard Stengel. (May 15)

Billboard has appointed a new managing editor, Don Jeffrey. Susan Nunziata recently resigned the position. (May 15)

UAP Inc. (United Advertising Publications), publisher of 29 regional parenting titles, has been sold by United News & Media to new owner Trader Publishing. (May 15)

e-com magazine will go from quarterly to bi-monthly for the rest of 2000. It will add coverage of the construction and telecomunications businesses and will go monthly in 2001. (May 11)

Adams Business Media, publisher of 37 business-to-business titles in areas such as automotive, beverage, horticulture and power electronics, is back on the auction block, but in divisional pieces unlike last years attempt to sell as a single unit. (May 10)

The Journal of Commerce, a daily international trade and shipping news newspaper, will change format in June to a weekly magazine, Journal of Commerce Week. (May 10)

Travel + Leisure's Editor-in-Chief, Nancy Novogrod, is now senior VP and editorial director of the Travel and Leisure Group. (May 10)

Forbes.com, the on-line arm of Forbes Inc., has appointed a new senior editor, Lisa Dicarlo. (May 10)

The New Yorker has won three National Magazine Awards, awarded by the American Society of Magazine Editors, for Fiction, Public Interest and General Excellence, perhaps explaining the recent increase in the title's ratebase to 800,000 readers. (May 10)

George continues to flourish under the guidance of editor Frank Lalli with a ratebase increase of another 50,000 this year, which will bring the total readership to a cool half million by fall. (May 10)

Blaze, the hip-hop teen magazine launched less than two years ago, will fold after the June/July issue. The title was up for sale, but the asking price was not met. (May 10)

eCompany Now, a new business title published monthly by Time Inc., launched May 8 with an initial distribution of 320,000 copies. (May 10)

Brill's Content has a new Editor-in-Chief, David Kuhn. Founder Steven Brill has stepped aside to oversee Brill Media Holdings. (May 10)

American Business Media (ABM) is the new name of American Business Press (ABP), the non-profit association of business-to-business media companies, that includes traditional magazine publishers as well as web site content providers and other ancillary media that builds on the print medium. (May 8)

Weight Watchers named a new editorial director, Nancy Gagliardi. (May 8)

digitalFOTO magazine will be available ion the newsstands on May 9. It's a monthly targeted for digital photography enthusiasts and professionals. Nikki Echler is editor-in-chief. (May 8)

E*TRADE: The Magazine is a new quarterly distributed to E*TRADE customers and to provide "valuable ideas and information on money management issues from some of America's leading financial writers." (May 8)

Mirabella, the "smart" women's magazine, has folded. Even with a circulation of 560,000, rumors swirled about its demise, both inside and outside of the publisher, Hachette Filipacchi. (May 7)

eshopper to launch second issue on May 9. The first test issue in December was a "great success" according to Ziff-Davis Media Inc, the publisher. The magazine will be positioned as "a reliable guide to online shopping". Laura Fisher Kaiser is the editor. (May 7)

Sm@rt Reseller will become Sm@rt Partner on June 5. The publisher, Ziff-Davis Media Inc, says the name change "reflects a subtle shift in the market place rather than a change in the focus of the magazine. The selling model has shifted to a complex web of partnerships." (May 7)

Family Money has appointed a new senior editor, Karen Hube, formerly with The Wall Street Journal. (May 3)

Family Money has a new executive editor, Nancy Perry Graham, formerly a senior editor at People. (May 3)

US Weekly has appointed Erik Jackson as their new senior editor. (May 3)

Mirabella, a women's title published by Hachette-Filipacchi, will cease publication. (May 1)

Travel & Leisure has created a new arts editor position which will be filled by Sheila Glaser, formerly Travel & Leisure's senior editor. (May 1)

Advanstar Communications, publisher of 112 titles, is putting out feelers for potential buyers, but that doesn't necessarily mean that the company is up for sale. (May 1)

Rennovation Style has named a new Editor-in-Chief, Ann Omvig Maine, the magazine's editor during the last four years. (May 1)

Shift announces a new managing editor, Lisa Cindolo, previously Details' managing editor. (May 1)

PC Accelerator's final issue will be published June 2000. Owner Imagine Media will move content, along with the entire editorial staff, to DailyRadar.com, Imagine Media's online interactive entertainment site. (May 1)

Florida Lawyer, a title focused on the business of running a law firm, was launched this month by American Lawyer Media (ALM) with a circulation of 26,000. Local issues will be featured along with content from ALM's other 20 titles. In addition, ALM publishes The Daily Business Review, a chain of three daily legal/business newspapers targeting southeastern Florida. (May 1)
