March 30, 2007 - SUN VALLEY GUIDE HABITAT offers a home and garden focus for Sun Valley, ID residents.  Topics include luxurious lifestyles, art collecting, decorating, remodeling, trendy products and services, and horticultural endeavors.

Jennifer Tuohy is editor of this quarterly magazine from Express Publishing, the parent company of the Idaho Mountain Express.  The debut Spring issue is available on area racks.

Regional Connecticut magazine starts up

March 30, 2007 - CT SLANT is a magazine for 25- to 44-year olds in and around metro Hartford, CT.  Features highlight "the way we actually live around here, the music and plays we might want to see, intelligent advice on how to deal with life as it is, the films that are playing nearby that might be worth leaving home for, great places to eat, places you might want to travel someday, and we’ll reflect amusingly on those aspects of the 21st century that are making us all bewildered.

Alistair Highet is editor of this monthly title, which is published by New Mass. Media and the Hartford Courant.  The initial distribution is 70,000 copies.
  
 
TENNIS WEEK revamps focus

March 30, 2007 - TENNIS WEEK is capitalizing on the popularity of younger players who are becoming celebrities and is striving for a "hip, up-to-the-minute, behind the scenes coverage."  The most significant change is about trendy fashion, which players set and readers covet, while retaining features about history, training tips, and event coverage, as well as interviews.

Editor-in-chief Brandusa Niro continues at the helm of the monthly IMG magazine, which debuted its new look with the April issue.

March 30, 3007 - INSTITUTIONAL INVESTOR added four new sections beginning with its March issue.

Opening - financial industry news and people; Capital - banks and exchanges information; Research - research teams and company rankings; Investing - alternative investments and wealth management.
  
 
New magazine for professional photographers

March 30, 2007 - DARKROOM is for Adobe Photoshop Lightroom users who seek information on creating "seamless, consistent, and efficient workflow."
Features include tutorial articles and digital photography techniques.

Scott Kelby is editor of this magazine from the National Association of Photoshop Professionals. It will be distributed with sister title PHOTOSHOP USER, which publishes eight issues per year. Members receive this magazine at no charge and non-members may subscribe to an electronic version.
 
   
New magazine features everything about Barbie collecting

March 30, 2007 - BARBIE COLLECTOR MAGAZINE is poised to assist avid collectors with features about contemporary dolls, behind-the-scene looks into Mattel, historical perspectives, and doll club news and shows - in a fashion-inspired format.

The quarterly publication, a partnership between Mattel and Jones Publishing, will launch on newsstands in April.  Additional information was not immediately available.
 

New magazine for microbiologists

March 30, 2007 - CELL HOST & MICROBE is written for researchers and other microbiologists interested in staying current on molecular and cell biology news.  Articles cover the "interaction between host immune systems and microbe infections" as well as pathogens, microbiology, therapeutics and vaccine design.

Lakshmi Goyal is editor of this monthly journal, which is published by Elsevier and debuted with the March issue. Distribution method and volume information was not immediately available.

Publication for moms billed as reality magazine

March 27, 2007 - HYBRID MOM is all about connecting at an interpersonal level with "real deal" articles on the "fusion of roles represented in motherhood today."  That includes the balance of work, family, home, and life.

Stacey Smith and Linda Shapiro are the co-founders who oversee this quarterly title, which is set to debut with the Spring issue in April.

Published by Moms-for-Profit, the magazine will be distributed to 300 nationwide Gymboree Play and Music locations.  The initial circulation is 100,000, with 50,000 increments planned for each subsequent issue in 2007.
 

New Canadian parenting magazine launches

March 27, 2007 - PARENTSCANADA targets Canadian parents ages 25 to 45 with advice for "those who want to raise their children without losing a sense of self."  Content focuses on relevant issues facing modern parents, including child development, well-being, behavior issues, nutrition, learning, and child-friendly products.

Dr. Marla Shapiro is editor-in-chief and Diane Jermyn is managing editor of this Family Communications magazine.  The quarterly publication is distributing 120,000 copies by subscription and to select book and retail stores.
 

New lifestyle for working women

March 27, 2007 - FORBES LIFE EXECUTIVE WOMAN is more about lifestyle, fashion, and handling entertainment duties than business and investment advice.  The content is described as "savvy personal shopper and well-connected concierge rolled into one.

Catherine Sabino is editor-in-chief of this Forbes Inc./Elevation Partners magazine, which will debut in October.  The publication will be polybagged with sister title FORBES and delivered to 125,000 affluent woman subscribers.  The frequency will increase to quarterly in 2008.
 

City/Lifestyle magazine to launch

March 22, 2007 - GRANVILLE will report on sustainability issues for residents of Vancouver, including issues of housing, transportation and energy, as well as food, fashion, and homes.  The target audience is between 25 and 50.

The quarterly magazine, published by Canada Wide Media, will debut in May. Additional information was not immediately available.

Men's shelter magazine to be tested

March 21, 2007 - MEN'S HEALTH LIVING is looking to gauge the concept that men are interested in being empowered "to take control of their environment."  Content will cover both style and service.

The standalone issue from Rodale's MEN'S HEALTH title is due on newsstands this September.  A similar 2006 test issue in South Africa will soon evolve into a monthly publication.
  
 
Regional sports magazine to launch

March 21, 2007 - ST. LOUIS SPORTS MAGAZINE is all about area sports teams, including interviews, humor, and history, and is aimed at the casual sports fan.

David Greene and James Oelklaus oversee this monthly publication, which is published by Innovative Marketing Group. The debut issue will appear in April at area bookstores and retail shops.
  

New magazine reports on all things Caribbean

March 21, 2007 - POSH will feature articles on personal growth, celebrity profiles, political and social issues, careers, travel, health, fitness, community activists and the arts as it relates to the Caribbean culture and lifestyle.

March 15, 2007 - MMA WORLDWIDE is a publication about the professional world of mixed martial arts.  Content includes behind-the-scenes looks, fighter profiles, and upcoming events.

New magazine about another country

March 15, 2007 - RUSSIA! is a nonpolitical, informational magazine that reports on the art, photos, fashion, design, food, travel destinations, and culture of Russia.

Michael Idov is editor of this magazine, which is published by New Century Bold and Press Release Group.  The debut issue appeared on New York City newsstands in February and the second issue is expected in mid-May.  Future plans include a distribution of 20,000 copies in major US cities, as well as in Canada and Britain.
  

New sewing magazine launches

March 15, 2007 - SEW STYLISH "is all about sewing today's fashions and expressing your own creativity."  Topics include fabric choice, key techniques, finding the best fit, and sewing projects.

The quarterly magazine is published by The Taunton Press, publishers of sister title THREADS.  The premier issue is now available.  Additional information was not immediately available.

B2B magazine to chronicle specialty parts market

March 15, 2007 - STYLING & PERFORMANCE aims to "unite the traditional aftermarket, specialty parts distribution and new car dealership channels."  The target audience is wholesale distributors, jobbers, and independent service providers.

The monthly magazine, published by Advanstar Communications, will debut with the July issue.  An initial circulation of 50,000 copies is planned.
  

Gambling site enters publishing arena

March 15, 2007 - EIGHT is a gambling lifestyle magazine that offers profiles, gadget and film reviews, and guides to Las Vegas.

The magazine is published by Casino-on-Net 888 and is distributed to account holders.  Two issues are expected this year.  Additional information was not immediately available.
  
 
NEVADA MAGAZINE redesigned

March 12, 2007 - NEVADA MAGAZINE is changing its editorial content to reflect "changes in Nevadan's lifestyles and the growth of the state's cities and rural areas."  Most notable are two new travel sections launching with the the March/April issue titled "City Limits" for urban destinations and "Wide Open," which showcases rural destinations.
  

Magazine updates its coverage

March 12, 2007 - EBONY, known for its serious features of and about African-Americans, is embracing the celebrity youth culture.  Editor-in-chief Linda Johnson Rice noted, "You have to stay current to compete."

The March issue begins incorporating the change-over, which may capture a new and younger audience, "but it's unclear if the over-40 crowd will continue to hold a spot for Ebony on their coffee tables."
  

New outdoor magazine for Michigan

March 12, 2007 - TRAILHEAD will cover Michigan's outdoor adventure possibilities with information on destinations, events, tips, gear reviews, maps and specific features about hiking, bicycling, camping, canoeing and kayaking.
 
Published by the Record-Eagle, the premier issue will debut June 28 with a distribution of 30,000 copies and is available by subscription. The second Winter issue will also be available on newsstands, to be followed by a quarterly publishing frequency in 2008.
  

Magazine launched for central PA

March 12, 2007 - INSIDE PENNSYLVANIA will address a wide range of topics from across the central PA region, from State College to Scranton and Harrisburg to Gettysburg.

Len Ingrassia is editor of this quarterly magazine, which is published by The Daily Item.  The premiere issue debuted today.  Distribution is to all subscribers of The Daily Item and The Danville News, is available by subscription, and can be found on newsstands across Central Pennsylvania.
  

Manhattan lifestyle magazine launches

March 9, 2007 - CITY SCOOPS covers dining, entertainment, real estate, finance, travel, health & fitness, and sports for the residents of Manhattan.

Editorial director Stephen Hanks oversees this magazine, which will publish nine issues per year.  Additional information was not immediately available.
 

Editorial changes at PREVENTION

March 9, 2007 - PREVENTION rolls out a new editorial vision with the April issue that will have "more customized content, a larger commitment to health and nutrition coverage, but the biggest change is that we included much more of our reader."

New editorial sections include "Faces of Prevention," "My Prevention," and "Real Life."  New content will also be found in "Body by Design," Food Chain," and a "beauty focus through the lens of women in her 40s, 50s, and 60s."  Liz Vaccariello is editor-in-chief of this monthly Rodale title.
   
 
New Canadian magazine for South Asians

March 7, 2007 - DESI LIFE is for the South Asian community of the Greater Toronto area.  Desi "refers to a hip new subculture, which represents a fusion of South Asian and Western."  Content will include profiles of community leaders, Canadian and South Asian trends, current news on Bollywood, and articles about cinema, cricket, food, fashion, music, and the arts.

March 9, 2007 - CLUBPLANET LAS VEGAS is all about the area's nightlife scene, celebrity sightings, gossip, club personality interviews, and articles on fashion, trends, and fun.

The monthly magazine, published by Kellogg Media Group's sister title WHAT'S ON, THE LAS VEGAS GUIDE, will be distributed with that guide and throughout area hotels, clubs, spas, boutiques, and restaurants.  The debut issue appeared in mid-January.

March 9, 2007 - FLOWER MAGAZINE covers fresh flower arrangements, how-to techniques from notable and up-and-coming artists and floral designers, stories of floral fun and fiascos, resources, and shows and events.

March 7, 2007 - AROUND TOWN is a guide "about where to go and what to do in the Mid-South" counties of Shelby, TN and DeSoto, MS.  The target audience is 21- to 45-years-old who are interested in weekend getaways, local events, historical perspectives, restaurant reviews, gadgets, and directories to area shopping and entertainment.

The monthly magazine premiered with the February issue at area newsstands.  An initial distribution of 12,000 copies is expected to grow by 20 to 25 percent in the future.  Additional information was not immediately available.

March 7, 2007 - DOTMED BUSINESS NEWS is a trade magazine for CEOs, CFOs, and COOs of hospitals.  Content "covers all the news relevant to the medical equipment industry."

Magazine covers commercial connection with China

March 7, 2007 - CHINA TRADE is all about doing business in China. Topics include tracking key industries, marketplace changes, new strategies, company and executive profiles, economic conditions, and legal, regulatory and political concerns.  In addition, coverage will be given to art, music, travel, hotels, restaurants and entertainment.

J.P. Faber is editor-in-chief of this monthly magazine, which is published by EastGate Media and debuts with the March issue.  55,000 copies are to be distributed to American and European companies with interests in China and an additional 33,000 copies will be circulated through newsstands and by subscription.
