March 30, 2006 - BOOM! MAGAZINE debuts this month, covering three focus areas of interest to baby boomers over 50-years-old: financial news, health and wellness, and lifestyle and entertainment.  The target audience lives in Orange, Durham, and Wake counties of NC.

Editorial queries about this monthly title should go to managing editor Marcy Hege. 30,000 copies of the debut March issue will be available at retail stores throughout the Triangle area.
 

New food magazine on newsstands today

March 28, 2006 - EAT appears on newsstands and in supermarkets on March 28, providing busy families with "inspiration, know-how and simple recipes."  The focus is making everyone a better cook with an eye towards nutrition, even when it is food on the go or from a box.

Lois White is editor of this quarterly magazine from Meredith Corporation's Special Interest Publications division.  Additional information was not immediately available.
 

Cancer the core topic of new magazine

March 28, 2006 - CR will "put a human face on cancer research," linking the people to the progress being made to help them.  The target audience encompasses cancer patients, survivors, advocates, caregivers, physicians and scientists.

Gwen Darien is editor-in-chief of this quarterly publication from the American Association for Cancer Research.  The Spring issue will officially debut on March 31.
 

New magazine chronicles southern lifestyle

March 27, 2006 - THE SOUTH looks at the heritage and legacy of southern states while also reporting on current issues, lifestyles, people and places.  The tone is fun and sophisticated.

The bi-monthly magazine launched with its February/March issue and is headquartered in Savannah, GA.  Future plans include distribution to 12 states. Additional details were not immediately available.

Business issues at core of new magazine

March 27, 2006 - VALUE MAGAZINE will explore the issues of sustainable business, social responsibility, and value creation, as well as exploring the boundaries between the for-profit and non-profit business sectors.  The target audience is executives in business, finance, government and non-profit organizations.

The bi-monthly publication from Bateleur Media debuted its February/March issue to a controlled circulation of 100,000.
 

New magazine for horse lovers

March 24, 2006 - EQUINE WELLNESS is all about "learning how to care for your horse as naturally as possible."  Topics focus on the animals themselves, as well as their caretakers.

Editor-in-chief Dana Cox of sister title ANIMAL WELLNESS oversees the magazine, with Lisa Ross-Williams as senior editor.  The bi-monthly publication from Redstone Media Group is due out in June.  Distribution will be by subscription and at bookstores and horse-centric stores, clubs and support groups.  An initial print run of 25,000 copies is anticipated.
 

Ministry magazine starts up

March 23, 2006 - THE JOURNAL OF STUDENT MINISTRIES recently launched, providing adults involved in youth ministry with an "insight into youth culture, fostering in-depth dialogue around important themes, and strengthening the student ministry community."

Will Penner is executive editor of this bi-monthly publication from Develop Ministries.  The debut May/June issue will be distributed by subscription.
 

New artisan magazine launches

March 23, 2006 - Soap, candles and herbal products are the core topics of a new magazine, CREATE THE DREAM!  The target audience is women 25- to 65-years-old interested in honing their craft skills whether for hobby or business.

Editor/Publisher Traci Hayner Vanover oversees the quarterly publication, which debuts with its May issue.  The magazine is a division of The Creative Concept and distribution is by subscription only.  The website is http://www.createthedream.com.
 

Dedicated MMO magazine in the works

March 21, 2006 - MASSIVE, a magazine delving solely into the world of MMO (Massively Multiplayer Online) games, will provide news, features, and previews of the latest in this entertainment form.  It will also report on the lifestyle of the MMO gamer.

Content control is through sister title COMPUTER GAMES MAGAZINE, of which MASSIVE is a spinoff.  The first issue will be available in mid-September, with a quarterly publication schedule for 2007.
 

New magazine for nurses being planned

March 21, 2006 - AMERICAN NURSE TODAY "will address - in depth - the many business, practical, clinical, career management, policy and legislative issues that nurses need to keep up to date."  The focus is on fresh and innovative topic coverage.

With a planned October launch, HealthCom Media and the American Nurses Association (ANA) are in the process of selecting the editorial staff.  Distribution will be to 150,000 ANA members and an additional 25,000 nurses in practice settings, as well as by subscription.
 

New magazine for Mini owners

March 20, 2006 - MC2 is a new magazine subtitled "The Independent American Magazine for all Mini Owners." Content ranges from traveling and racing with one's Mini, to owner profiles, tech tips, classics, and news.

Gary Anderson is editor of this quarterly publication that debuted with its Winter 2005 issue.  A Spring and Summer issue will be published, and then the magazine will transition to a bi-monthly schedule starting with the September/October issue. Distribution is by subscription and to leading bookstores.  The website is http://www.mc2magazine.com.
 

Positive attitude all important at new magazine

March 20, 2006 - POSITIVE THINKING, where "attitude is everything," recently launched to offer encouragement and empowerment on subjects including kids, health, relationships, and general lifestyle issues.

Latino hip-hop magazine re-emerges

March 20, 2006 - BRIDGEZ, the Latino connection to hip-hop news, features, profiles and music reviews, published a Summer 2004 issue and then promptly went to an online format.

The magazine has now reappeared on the market in print.  Ariel Gonzalez is editor-in-chief of this quarterly publication, which can be found on newsstands and by subscription.
 

Golf-related trade magazine launches

March 17, 2006 - GOLF EVENT magazine is a new industry resource for corporate and charitable golf outings, events, and tournaments.  The target audience is "golf event managers, event planners, golf course professionals and club managers as well as those responsible for corporation or charity golf events." Content focuses on organizational and planning tools.

April Miller is editor of this bi-monthly magazine from Symphony Publishing.  The publication launched with its February/March issue.  Circulation is 36,000 copies.
 

Boston pop culture magazine debuts

March 17, 2006 - LEMON is an editorial and visual journey through fashion, art, and entertainment, but elitist attitudes are not welcome.  Content is culturally attuned and is aimed at being "a hipper version of LIFE."

Publishers Kevin Grady and Colin Metcalf oversee the bi-annual title.  The debut issue, now in Boston book and music stores, had a supernatural theme.  The theme for the second issue is espionage.
 

New magazine for urban dads

March 16, 2006 - FATHERHOOD is the title of a new magazine aimed at young urban fathers in the Pittsburgh area.  The focus is encouragement for fathers to take an active role in their children's lives and the tone is inspirational.  Topics include "young, expecting and single fathers, children's health, men's health and fitness, finances, music, movie and book reviews, education, fashion, influential people, spirituality, and father's rights."

Anwan and Ahmad Wesley oversee this bi-monthly publication due out in April. Additional details were not immediately available.
 

New racing magazine is woman-centric

March 16, 2006 - WOMEN IN RACING MAGAZINE highlights "the women racers as well as the women in management; the wives and mothers of racers; the women on the pit crews and in the race shops; and, the women in the stands."

Inetta Smith is managing editor of the monthly magazine published by J&E Marketing. Distribution is to hotels, tracks, shops, and automotive stores in track-heavy areas such as Daytona, Homestead, Sebring, and Tampa/St. Petersburg. The second issue came out this month.
 

Canadian women's health magazine to launch

March 16, 2006 - RENEW NORTHWEST is a health magazine for women in northwestern Ontario, Canada.  The focus is on "looking good, feeling good and improving your health from the inside out."  Topics include nutrition, fitness, emotional well-being, breast health, and cancer prevention.

25,000 copies will be distributed throughout the area, with an anticipated October launch. The magazine is published by the Thunder Bay Breast Health Coalition. Additional information was not immediately available.

Arts and crafts revival chronicled

March 14, 2006 - ARTS & CRAFTS HOMES AND THE REVIVAL covers turn-of-the-century bungalows and furniture as well as the British art movements of the late 19th century and Art Nouveau.  The magazine's mission is to "offer expert advice and perspective for those building, renovating, or furnishing a home in the Arts and Crafts spirit" and "celebrate the revival of quality and craftsmanship."

Publisher Bill O'Donnell oversees the quarterly magazine, which debuts with its Spring 2006 issue.  Published by Gloucester Publishers, distribution is by subscription and on newsstands.
 

New lifestyle magazine for Atlanta

March 9, 2006 - A new magazine for professional African Americans in Atlanta, MECCA, is being put together.  Content will range from black business achievements to politics, entertainment and sports.

Goldie Taylor is overseeing the launch of this title, which is published by Renaissance Urban Media Group.  Eleven issues are planned per year, with the magazine debuting sometime this summer.  An initial 50,000 copies will be distributed throughout Atlanta, with a possible transition to a nationwide presence in the future.
 

Hallmark to introduce lifestyle magazine

March 9, 2006 - HALLMARK magazine will target women interested in articles about "home, food, decorating, entertaining, relationships and self."  The focus is on savoring and enjoying life's journey.

Lisa Benenson is editor-in-chief of this bi-monthly magazine debuting with the September/October charter issue.  A ratebase of 400,000 is planned, with distribution by subscription and to booksellers, grocery and drug stores, mass merchants and Hallmark Gold Crown stores nationwide.
 

New baseball magazine being planned

March 8, 2006 - 108 is the title of a new magazine "that celebrates baseball’s contribution to and role in American history, culture, and social fabric."  The publication will feature in-depth profiles on the culture and the game, interviews with legendary figures, and offer a home for short fiction writers.

Randy Merritt is editor-in-chief of this quarterly title from Sandlot Media, which will debut with the Summer issue.  The initial distribution will be by subscription.
 

New magazine helps battle heart disease

March 8, 2006 - HEART-HEALTHY LIVING provides a resource for men, women and families "to help manage, fight and prevent heart disease."  The focus of this magazine is on nutrition, with articles covering restaurant choices and food products, but also reports on general lifestyle issues.

Jeanne Ambrose is editor of this quarterly publication from Meredith Corporation's Special Interest Publications division.  The Spring 2006 issue was recently distributed to newsstands and supermarkets.  The ratebase information was not immediately available.
 

Fleet operation magazine announced

March 8, 2006 - FUEL ADVANTAGE, targeting private and public fleet and commercial vehicle managers, will cover fuel prices, regulation, and alternatives, as well as better management of fuel-related expenditures.

Mark O'Connell is editor-in-chief of this Cygnus Business Media publication. Three issues (March, August, October) are planned for 2006.  The magazine will be distributed with sister titles FLEET MAINTENANCE and MASS TRANSIT, a total circulation of 60,000. The website is http://www.fuelpub.com.
 

City magazine in the works

March 8, 2006 - A new magazine for the city of Atascadero, CA is getting ready to debut.  ATASCADERO MAGAZINE will provide information on city projects, travel, tourism, highlights from local business, and recreation.  The publication replaces the city's smaller recreation guide.

Jennifer Fanning is editor of this publication, which will publish three issues per year: Summer, Fall, and Spring.  The debut issue is due out in June.  An estimated 20,000 copies will be bundled with the Atascadero News newspaper and distributed to local schools and businesses.
 

Canadian graphic design magazine launches

March 8, 2006 - DESIGN EDGE CANADA will chronicle graphic design news and trends of interest to a target audience that ranges from independent freelancers to large design studios. Topics include editorial, advertising, web, corporate, retail, and government industry issues.

Ann Meredith Brown is editor of this bi-monthly magazine, which is published by North Island Publishing.  The debut March/April issue will be distributed nationwide with a circulation of 7,500 copies.
 

New central Florida golf magazine

March 8, 2006 - GOLF LIFE ORLANDO debuts this month with features on courses to play, local personality profiles, and area stories and pictorials. Reviews of luxury cars, homes, and things to buy will target the magazine's affluent readership.

Mike Boslet is editor of this quarterly publication from Turnstile Publishing Company, which also publishes GOLFWEEK.  40,000 copies will be mailed to upscale residences, with another 10,000 copies being distributed to Orlando area retail stores and top-end hotels and resorts.

Christian men's publication launches

March 6, 2006 - 3V is a "comprehensive resource of information directly related to the daily spiritual walk of Christian men and offers key insight concerning today's issues."  The target audience is 18- to 60-year-old African American males also interested in business and finance, sports, and health and fitness.

Chuck Brown is managing editor of this bi-monthly title that debuted with its January/February issue.  Based in the Pittsburgh area, the magazine transitioned to national distribution with its second issue.  The website is http://www.3vmagazine.com.
 

Canadian airline publishes new magazine

March 2, 2006 - ATMOSPHERE is the new magazine for Canada's Air Transit airline.  Subjects include destinations, personality profiles, consumer gadgets, and food reviews.

Peter Mansfield is publisher of the quarterly magazine by Business Class Media. 50,000 copies, in English and French, will be distributed throughout the airline's fleet.
 

Regional magazine launches

March 2, 2006 - DOWN HOME debuted yesterday in the Hampton Roads area of Virginia. The magazine highlights national level NASCAR racing and country music, and on the local level provides articles on sports (professional and leisure), vehicle reviews, and profiles of local heroes.

Jeff Maisey is editor-in-chief of this Targeted Publications title, distributed every other Wednesday to area retail shops.  The initial print run is 40,000 copies.

Two variety magazines in the works

March 2, 2006 - If it has to do with autos, home, health, travel, money, fashion, sports, entertainment, or the arts, then EVERYTHING FOR MEN and EVERYTHING FOR WOMEN will cover it.

The sister titles will debut in the second quarter of 2006 and are published by EPIC Media Inc.  The ratebase for each magazine is 250,000 and will be distributed by subscription and on newsstands nationwide.  Rob Hill was announced as editor-in-chief of EVERYTHING FOR MEN yesterday.
