ATV pub zooms onto newsstands July 5

June 30, 2005 - QUAD OFF-ROAD is a new magazine "designed to inspire and inform the active ATV participant."  Content includes how-tos, product reviews, technical tips, race circuit news, and inspiring adventure stories.

Published bi-monthly by TransWorld Media, the title debuts on newsstands July 5.  Paid circulation is projected at 88,000 with a total distribution of 215,000 copies. Publication frequency will increase to monthly in 2007.  TRANSWORLD MOTOCROSS is a sister publication.
 

New gear head mag launches

June 30, 2005 - Aspiring and professional gear heads have a new bi-monthly title called MIXED METAL.  Topics include anything of interest to "do-it-yourself garage-aholics."

Tim Spell is editor-in-chief.  The title debuted in April and is distributed by the Houston Chronicle and Firestone Tire company with a circulation of 30,000.  Plans include monthly issues in the future.  The website is http://www.mixedmetal.com/.
 

SoCAL dining experience captured

June 29, 2005 - EATING MAGAZINE chronicles the dining experience of Southern California, with restaurant reviews and profiles as well editorial features on wineries, farmer's markets, and dietary recommendations.

Editor-in-chief Ann Wycoff oversees this quarterly title, distributed via newsstands, bookstores, and cafes in the greater Los Angeles and surrounding metro areas.  The website is http://www.eatingmagazine.com.

Regional shelter mag launches

June 29, 2005 - NEW YORK HOME, an upscale shelter magazine, debuted this month.  The focus is on unique views into city dwelling, design aesthetics of New York, New Jersey and Connecticut, and country/beach weekend getaways.

Jason Kontos is editor-in-chief of this Hour Media publication.  Four issues are scheduled for 2005 with a ratebase of 100,000.
 

Colorado community target of new homeowner pub

June 28, 2005 - ASPEN VALLEY RESORT PROPERTIES is more than just real estate listings for the Roaring Fork Valley community. Articles offer insights into various living environments, private clubs, golf courses, interior design, remodeling, architectural design, materials, and alternative energy use.

The quarterly title, published by the owner of The Aspen Catalogue, debuted earlier this month and is distributed locally to property management firms, high-end homeowners, and customers of local real estate companies.
 

New wheelchair user pub rolls out

June 27, 2005 - Young people who use a wheelchair have a new magazine, KIDS ON WHEELS, THE MAGAZINE.  Content is all about the positive portrayal of people with disabilities and is organized into two editions:  one for the kids and one for the adults who interact with them.

The quarterly title is set to debut August 15 and is published by New Mobility. Circulation is 10,000.
 

Regional pub covers part of Oregon

June 27, 2005 - Homes over $200,000 are the target for a new regional pub covering Marion and Polk counties in Oregon. HOME & LIFESTYLE is geared up to help readers make "their homes more comfortable and inviting."

Content includes stories and photographs about home decorating products and services, remodeling, and entertainment.  The quarterly magazine launched this month and is published by the Statesman Journal.
 

Upscale tattoo mag inks up

June 27, 2005 - People with tattoos are a diverse group and bringing them together is the focus of INKED, a quarterly publication set to launch in fall.  Content includes in-depth cultural views and profiles, entertainment, style, and the latest in art and products.

"Hawaii" Mike Salman is editor-in-chief.  Circulation is 100,000 and the title will be distributed at newsstands and in tattoo parlors, surf and skate shops, and select book stores.

New travel mag targets younger readers

June 27, 2005 - LEGENDS, a magazine aimed at 20-something urban professionals, explores travel destinations as seen from the viewpoint of music, arts and sports.  In addition, each issue will "feature the legend behind a certain place."

Susanna Kislenko is editor-in-chief. 5,000 copies were distributed around Toronto in late April.  The publishing frequency was not immediately available.  The website is http://www.legendstoronto.ca.
 

In-depth look at TV shows and stars

June 27, 2005 - INSIDE TV, from the publishers of TV GUIDE, premiered on newsstands late April.  The content targets women who are between 18- and 39-years-old, with features on celebrity stories, upcoming shows, reviews of older shows, reality TV, and a viewing guide.

The ratebase for this weekly title is 400,000, with publisher Christine Petrillo at the helm.
 

VOGUE spinoff for men coming soon

June 22, 2005 - MEN'S VOGUE has received the green light for one issue this year, targeting confident, educated men over 35-years-of-age.  The focus is high-end luxury with feature articles on food, travel, upscale issues, and more.

The Conde Nast title debuts September 6, with 100,000 copies on newsstands and 200,000 mailed to men with incomes over $100,000.  The editor is Jay Fielden.  Four issues are being planned for 2006.
 

Orange County lifestyle pub launches

June 22, 2005 - Affluent households in Orange County, Calif. are the target for OC FLAIR.  Initial topic coverage includes fitness, lifestyle, attitude, image, and results, for both indoor and outdoor recreational activities.

The bi-monthly title debuts this month with a mailing distribution of 92,000 copies and 8.000 copies in local upscale storefronts.  The editor is LaRue Novick.

Business mag targets young women

June 22, 2005 - BEE, a new publication covering finance, politics, travel, and lifestyles for "twentysomething and thirtysomething" career-driven women, will debut this October.  The finance section will "fill a void for young readers, since established business magazines assume a certain level of financial savvy."

The quarterly title, founded by Celine Gumbiner and Erik Velez, plans a 100,000 circulation.
 

New pub for 951 area code area

June 21, 2005 - 951, the new area code for the general western Riverside County, Calif. area, has launched to "create the ultimate community communication and commerce resource."  Articles cover movers and shakers, up-and-comers, extraordinary kids and teens, fund raising events, living and working in the area, and the newest places to go and things to do.

The quarterly magazine is published by McClain Publishing and distributes 35,000 copies by mail.  Two editions, 951 Plus and 951 Southwest, cover specific cities.  The website is http://www.951mag.com.
 

Ultra luxury lifestyle mapped out soon

June 21, 2005 - ULTIMATE LIVING is all about residential real estate for the affluent.  Topics include master-planned developer communities, luxury homes, hotel resort residences, and destination clubs.

The annual title debuts this October with a distribution of 225,000 and is published by World Publications.  Sister titles include SAVEUR, ISLANDS, and CARIBBEAN TRAVEL & LIFE.
 

New lifestyle pub for Rochester, Minn. locals

June 21, 2005 - People who call Rochester home are the target demographic of a new title, ROCHESTER MAGAZINE.  "Where to" features cover dining out, shopping, local events, and worship.

The monthly title has a subscription base and is also distributed throughout the area at hotels and news racks.

June 21, 2005 - The relationship between grandparents and grandchildren is celebrated in a recently launched magazine, GRAND.  Tips and advice on safe play environments, visitation rights, inexpensive fun, and extended financial issues are at the core of this publication.

Additional coverage is offered on health and fitness, long-distance grandparenting techniques, and general perspectives.  The title is published bi-monthly.
 

Event designers target of new mag

June 21, 2005 - Designers, architects, creative directors, and purchasing managers are the target audience of EVENT DESIGN MAGAZINE.  The focus is on the design and construction of indoor and outdoor events, museum exhibits, trade show displays, retail merchandising, special events, and corporate environments.

Feature articles in this "form and function" title cover design inspiration, production trends, case studies, interviews, emerging technology, and tips for tight budgets.  Dan Hanover is editor of this Red 7 Media publication.
 

New IT pub for Texas state and local officials

June 21, 2005 - The mission of TEXAS TECHNOLOGY is "to foster and share best practices and innovative solutions in the public sector IT arena throughout all levels of government in Texas," as well as covering the state's "new product and service contracting vehicles available to all public sector entities."

The quarterly regional title, due out later this year, is published by e.Republic's GOVERNMENT TECHNOLOGY magazine in collaboration with the Texas Department of Information Resources.

June 21, 2005 - SKITIME is set to launch this October with coverage on the ski culture, turning pro, music, lifestyle scoops, and downtime activities.

Matt Harvey is editor of this publication.  30,000 copies will be distributed to ski shops.  The publication schedule calls for two issues this year and four in 2006.
 

Southern rappers chronicled

June 21, 2005 - DOWN MAGAZINE is strictly for rappers "down south."  The title will debut at newsstands around Memphis on July 26.

June 21, 2005 - BIZ TECH is designed to provide information technology strategy coverage for smaller companies.  Topics include technology and business challenges, case histories, sidebar action steps, and general management issues.

New mag for St. Croix Valley, Minnesota residents

Do-it-your-self mag for techno-geeks

June 10, 2005 - MAKE is a project-oriented publication aiming to help those who like to tinker make the most of electronic gadgets.  "This is a magazine that celebrates your right to tweak, hack, and bend any technology to your own will."

The quarterly magazine debuted in February with 25,000 subscriptions and can also be found at retailers and on newsstands.  Published by O'Reilly, the editor-in-chief is Mark Frauenfelder.
 

Upscale RV mag enters market

June 9, 2005 - A new lifestyle publication for the RV community debuted in May.  RVLIVING targets existing owners as well as the emerging baby boomer generation who are educated, sophisticated, and affluent.

The bi-monthly title focuses on community, seeing America, experiencing freedom, "and doing it right."  Topics include best destinations, new products, upgrades, and timely issues.  Tara Cox is editor-in-chief.

June 8, 2005 - A new lifestyle publication is set to launch for Canadian readers.  ZI MAGAZINE targets "the newest generation of truly global citizens who demonstrate a keen awareness of global, cultural, ethical, social and political issues."

The quarterly title, led by editor-in-chief Zimat Damji, will launch in October.  75,000 copies will be distributed on newsstands and as an insert in major newspapers.
 

New lifestyle mag focuses on personal time

June 7, 2005 - WEEKEND, a new publication devoted to how working women 35-and-over wish to occupy their weekends, is set to debut June 14.  The magazine is divided into two sections: Weekend at Home and Weekend Away.  Features cover shopping, food, entertaining, decorating, organizing, travel, and real estate.

Susan Wyland is editor-in-chief of this Hearst Magazine title, with an initial distribution of 500,000 newsstand copies.  A second issue is planned for mid-August and future frequency will be evaluated at that time.
 

New mag for Seattle area dog owners

June 7, 2005 - CITY DOG launched this month for Seattle area people who view their dogs "as part of the family."  The lifestyle publication's focus is on expert advice covering a wide variety of topics, product ideas, and local destinations.

June 2, 2005 - ZAYVER MAGAZINE, a new wedding planning publication targeting South Asian engaged couples, will debut this September.  Topics include fashion, planning advice, true stories, and dream weddings.

Two additional issues will be published in January and May, under the guidance of editor Sandhya Pradad.
 

New lifestyle pub for veterinarians

June 2, 2005 - Busy veterinarians, who find managing their work schedules and home life challenging, have a new source of information.   VETZ MAGAZINE is concentrating on how to establish a healthy balance by taking into account professional growth, expanding practices, and changing family dynamics.
