New home design magazine for New England area

July 24, 2006 - High-end homes and design are the focus of a new magazine, DESIGN NEW ENGLAND.  Topics include homes and gardens, kitchens and baths, art and antiques, and design tips.

Jill Connors is editor of this Boston Globe Media publication, which will debut in October and then publish bi-monthly in 2007.  A controlled circulation of 40,000 copies will mail to affluent Boston-area households and 10,000 copies distributed to architects and designers.
   
 
Motorcycle magazine for African-Americans

July 24, 2006 - THE BLACK BIKER MAGAZINE captures "the flavor of the black biker community" with photos, interviews and stories.  The focus is on riders who own Harley-Davidson motorcycles.

Na'il Karim is founder and publisher of this quarterly title, which debuted with its June issue.  The magazine has a circulation of 5,000 copies and is distributed in Oakland, CA and select locations in New York, Texas and Wisconsin, as well as by subscription.

Regional magazine for Ashville to launch
 
July 24, 2006 - D'LICIOUS is all about the cuisine, entertainment and lifestyle in Asheville, NC.  Content will include restaurant reviews, personalities in the kitchen, the world of food and the culinary arts, as well as things to do around town.

The target audience is 20- to 40-years old and the debut is August 5. Additional information was not immediately available.
   

New Christian magazine launches

July 24, 2006 - ANSWERS is "devoted to providing accurate, relevant, and biblically sound information."  The focus is on building a Christian worldview with the whole family in mind.

Dale Mason is executive editor of this quarterly title from Answers in Genesis.  The magazine debuted with its July-September issue and has an estimated 40,000 subscribers. The website is http://www.answersmagazine.com.
   

New magazine about changing the world

July 20, 2006 - GOOD is looking to "serve as a platform for people looking to do good" as business insiders, not protesters.  The target audience is 21- to 35-years old.  Articles will cover cultural insights, non-profit business profiles, and looking beneath the surface of politics, celebrity, media, sex, health, the environment and travel.

Ben Goldhirsh is at the helm of this bi-monthly magazine, which will launch with its September issue.  An initial circulation of 50,000 copies is planned, with distribution in Whole Foods supermarkets, national bookstores, and newsstands in Boston, Los Angeles, New York, Washington and San Francisco.
   

New craft magazine coming

July 20, 2006 - CRAFT will follow the foundation of traditional crafting practices and techniques but also incorporate technology, creative recycling, and innovative materials and processes. The tone is a "fun sense of irony, irreverence and attitude.

Carla Sinclair is editor of this O'Reilly Media publication, due out in October.  The quarterly will be distributed nationally on newsstands and bookstores.
  

New racing magazine debuts

July 17, 2006 - NEW YORK THOROUGHBRED LIFE will "present more human interest-type stories" rather than racing news.  Articles range from profiles on current industry people as well as legends, to stories of saved animals and race enjoyment tips for fans.

Bill Heller is at the helm of this new magazine, which is set to debut on July 25 at the Saratoga Race Course and National Museum of Racing.  A second issue is due out in October.  Plans call for a bi-monthly publishing schedule thereafter and possible national distribution.
  

New magazine for travel planners in the works

July 17, 2006 - PROCUREMENT.TRAVEL is "designed for professional purchasers of worldwide corporate travel and meetings."  The focus is on trends, case studies, market intelligence, analysis, and benchmarks.

Mary Ann McNulty has been named content director of this ProMedia.travel LLC publication.  The debut issue is expected sometime this fall.  Additional information was not immediately available.
    

Innovation at the core of new magazine

July 17, 2006 - INSIDE INNOVATION is all about making innovation work and helping visionaries understand the necessary discipline involved. Articles range from profiles of design gurus and innovation champions, to case studies, product reviews, data analysis, and key business strategies.

Bruce Nussbaum is editor of this quarterly, which is bound into BUSINESSWEEK magazine.
  

Beautiful vehicles on display

July 17, 2006 - STOCK & CUSTOM is all about the beauty of cars and the stories behind the experience.  How-to articles and car show coverage will be offered along with profiles of owners and their cars.

Michael Horton is founder of this Big Runners Publishing magazine.  Four issues are planned for 2006 and a bi-monthly schedule is in the works for 2007.  Distribution is largely on newsstands throughout the east coast, but quickly pushing westward.
  

Renal professionals have new publication

July 13, 2006 - RENAL BUSINESS TODAY is for practice-management renal professionals interested in the latest business and technology trends and strategies.  In addition, advice and human-interest articles will be published.

Keith Chartier is editor of this Virgo Publishing magazine.  The debut July/August issue will be followed by two more this year and then published monthly in 2007.  A circulation of 20,000 copies is anticipated.
  

Time Inc. testing new magazine

July 10, 2006 - SI EDGE is the working title of a new SPORTS ILLUSTRATED spin-off.  The focus will be on health and fitness and "tap into the younger male market."  Articles will feature celebrity athletes so that the magazine will double as a fan sports title as well.

Terry McDonnell, currently the managing editor at SPORTS ILLUSTRATED, is leading the effort to publish what Time Inc. is labeling a test only.  No additional information was immediately available.
  

B2B magazine to launch

July 10, 2006 - RESPIRATORY MANAGEMENT will provide in-depth and practical business intelligence for home medical equipment respiratory suppliers, sleep disorder professionals, and respiratory therapists

Deborah Cooper is editor of this bi-monthly magazine from 1105 Media Inc.  The debut issue is due out in September.
      

Music scene covered in new magazine

July 10, 2006 - STRUTTER MAGAZINE is gearing up to deliver articles, interviews and reviews on emerging North American and international rock, rock and roll, punk, and heavy pop style music.  Topics range from the music and bands to industry news, gear and technology, and fashion.

Craig Knight is founder of this monthly title, which will be distributed in major U.S. and Canadian cities at retailers and musical venue.
   
  
New broadband magazine launching

July 13, 2006 - KILLER APP will feature the latest in broadband applications, with a far-ranging collection of information about dynamic and emerging technologies.

Masha Zager is editor of this monthly magazine from Broadband Properties, publisher of sister title BROADBAND PROPERTIES. Additional information was not immediately available.
  

New health title for Native Americans

July 10, 2006 - MEDICINE BUNDLE recently launched, with a focus on encouraging "healthier lifestyles among the Native North American population."  Topics include traditional medicines and healing practices, success stories, and new ideas from Native talent, health providers and community members.

Dr. Gilles Pinette is editor-in-chief. Additional information was not immediately available. 
  

New men's lifestyle magazine announced

July 13, 2006 - LIQUID is for urban men, predominately with an African American focus.  Topics range from fashion and sports to fitness and nutrition, travel and leisure, home entertainment, and technology.

Laurence Christian is editor-in-chief of this publication, which plans to debut with its Fall issue.  The circulation will be 105,000 copies. Additional information was not immediately available.
  

Gay men's magazine being planned

July 13, 2006 - ZEUS is a new national gay men's magazine for those who "aspire to live their best life."  Content will include gay issues, men's issues, health, politics, travel, and entertainment.

Roderic Montrece is editor-in-chief of this Fenoica Publishing Company magazine, with a planned national circulation of 30,000.  Publication frequency information was not immediately available.
