New sports and fitness mag for senior athletes

January 22, 2005 - GEEZERJOCK magazine is launching in March.  It is a quarterly sports and fitness publication that will cover the world of Masters, serious senior athletics for people 40-and-over in sports such as track and field to swimming, basketball, baseball.  The editor is Sean Callahan and their website is at http://www.geezerjock.com.

Stand-up comedians get their own publication

January 7, 2005 - A new publication called TWO DRINK MINIMUM debuts this month.  It features breaking news, interviews with today's hottest comedians, stories on rising stars, coverage of major comedy festivals, and reviews.  Julie Seabaugh is founding editorial director.  The first issue will have a 10,000 print run and be available on a limited number of newsstands in early 2005. Franchised mag to launch in Boston

January 7, 2005 - A national franchise publication based in Orlando, Florida has announced a Boston edition in February. The new edition of INDUSTRY magazine will combine the publication's national entertainment, fashion, lifestyle and culture coverage with local editorial content.  It will be published bimonthly and will be controlled-circulation (free.)

Women's voices heard in WORLD PULSE

January 3, 2005 - A new independent glossy magazine is launching to comment on current international events by leading women journalists, analysts, luminaries, and youth worldwide.  WORLD PULSE was founded by Jensine Larsen, who envisioned the publication after working as a freelance journalist covering stories of ethnic cleansing in Burma and indigenous movements in South America.  The magazine is based in Portland, Oregon and will start quarterly in 2005 and move to bi-monthly with international distribution in 2006.  For more information visit www.worldpulsemagazine.com.

Plastic surgery magazine for consumers to launch

January 3, 2005 - Founder Adam Sandow, president of Boca Raton-based Sandow Media insists that his NEW BEAUTY magazine is not only about going under the knife.  "Cosmetic enhancement" he calls the content.  The magazine will not have an editor-in-chief, just an editorial board.  It will publish 13 regional editions, each carrying about 25% local advertising from doctors and beauty companies.  It will be published twice in 2005 and quarterly in 2006.  Like more magazine news?  Sign up for our newsletter at left, or email Meg at mweaver@woodenhorsepub.com
