Green lifestyle magazine to launch in Canada

August 30, 2007 - OUR GREEN HOME is for "environmentally motivated homeowners" seeking a earth-friendly lifestyle. Topics range from energy efficiency to more conscientious entertaining ideas.

The quarterly magazine is published by Green Group and will debut at the end of September. 1.86 million homes throughout Ontario, Canada, which includes a Toronto distribution of 300,000, will receive the initial issue.
 

New luxury magazine for southern California

August 29, 2007 - LUXVERIA LUXURIOUS LIVING is for baby boomer residents of San Diego and Orange counties, Temecula, and Palm Springs, who are interested in health, wealth, and leisure activities topics.

Publisher Jeff Anderson is at the helm of this quarterly magazine, which will debut in October. 60,000 copies will be direct mailed to affluent households and is also available by subscription.
 

Custom bike and car magazine launched

August 29, 2007 - CRUZIN' SOUTH MAGAZINE reports on the "rides industry." Covering an area from Memphis to north Mississippi and eastern Arkansas, topics range from car and motorcycle shows to races and other events.

Donna Wadford is editor-in-chief of this quarterly publication from D&G Productions. The magazine debuted with the January issue and a circulation of 10,000 copies.

August 28, 2007 - CELEB STAFF is for any person who serves in an affluent household, including the estate manager, personal assistant, butler, valet, nanny, housekeeper, cook, trainer, pilot, as well as outside consultants.  Topics include maintenance and management, upgrading home systems, family life, staffing issues, nutrition and fitness, and travel.

Rita Cook is editor-in-chief of this bi-monthly magazine, which is published by Golden Eagle Publishing House.  The title debuted last December and is distributed through exclusive hotels, golf resorts, and luxury spas and salons.
 

New magazine focuses on tween girls

August 28, 2007 - KIKI MAGAZINE is an age-appropriate fashion publication for nine- to 14-year-old girls that intertwines creativity, style sense, confidence building, business, geography, fine art, crafts, history and world culture into the editorial content. What you won't find is gossip, boyfriends, or sensuality articles.

Jamie Bryant oversees this quarterly magazine, which is published by B-Books and will debut in September. Distribution is currently by subscription.
 

Fast news - more new magazines

EXPLORE ORANGE COUNTY is a tourism magazine for Orange County, TX.  The annual publication will debut in October with 15,000 copies distributed in hotels and tourist bureaus.
THRIVE connects the University of Michigan Comprehensive Cancer Center with its patients.  The quarterly title is published by GLC.
STREET covers the South Texas car culture, with engine performance advice and car auction do's and don'ts.  Mario Salinas and Andy Santos oversee this bi-monthly magazine, which has a distribution of 10,000 copies.
OFF-ROAD ENTHUSIAST (ORE) is for serious off-road and racing drivers.  The monthly publication offers coverage ranging from tires to roof lights.
 

Bonnier relaunches 20-year-old travel magazine

August 27, 2007 - RESORTS & GREAT HOTELS, at one time an annual property profile publication, is changing course for 2008.  Editorial content will revolve around themed issues, starting with "One-of-a-Kind" and followed by "Summer Getaways," "Small Gems - The Boutique Experience," "Winter Escapes," and "Best Beach Resorts."  Topics focus on luxury resort lifestyles, latest trends, news, and guides.

The quarterly magazine, published by Bonnier Corporation, debuts in January 2008. 100,000 copies will be distributed through bookstores, major airport newsstands, and by subscription.
 

National magazine launches first regional edition

August 24, 2007 - BUSINESSWEEK CHICAGO will focus exclusively on local business issues and offer in-depth analytical articles that explore "what it [business events] means and what's important."

Michael Arndt is editor of this monthly McGraw-Hill publication, which debuts with the November issue.  60,000 copies will be distributed to existing, local BUSINESSWEEK subscribers and area business people.  If the launch is successful, other regional editions could follow.
 

Regional publication grows with community it serves

August 24, 2007 - OLD CITY LIFE is for the residents of St. Augustine and Saint James County, FL.  Topics focus on lifestyle, social events, new business openings, and charities.

Yvette Monell is editor-in-chief of this monthly magazine, which was originally titled OLD CITY SCENE.  The September issues marks the magazine's one-year anniversary.  10,000 copies are distributed through bookstores, cafes, and local cultural venues.
 

No frills magazine about cool products

August 24, 2007 - ANTENNA is a shopping magazine targeting 18- to 34-year-old urban males.  The main focus is simple product listings, but a features section offers "stories about people who have created something interesting and noteworthy for men."  In addition, the "Inventory Section" publishes retail store profiles from around the country.

High school female athlete magazine being tested

August 24, 2007 - GIRL " will cater exclusively to the 3 million girls who are student athletes in the United States."  The main focus is sports coverage but a "lifestyle aspect will also be included."

Published by sister title RISE, editorial direction will come from Rob Bodenburg. The debut September issue will be followed by a second issue in spring 2008, and a possibility of quarterly publication thereafter.  300,000 copies are to be distributed nationwide to head coaches of female sports teams.
 

Regional magazine targets downtown Philly section

August 23, 2007 – RITTENHOUSE MAGAZINE is for the residents in and near Rittenhouse Square, which encompasses the largely affluent western half of downtown Philadelphia, PA.  Topics include profiles of businesses and events, volunteer opportunities, interviews with celebrated citizens, non-profit organizations, art and culture, and lifestyle products and services.

Claire Bramble is editor-in-chief of this bi-monthly publication, which debuted with the June/July issue.  The current circulation is at 7,500 copies that can be found in 120 locations around the city.
 

New magazine about investment strategies

August 23, 2007 – INVESTOR CONCEPTS is all about “emerging ideas for the active investor.”  Targeting affluent people, content includes investment ideas that will bring the greatest returns to investment dollars and high reward and untapped investment opportunities.

This quarterly title, published by First National Information Network, will debut sometime this fall.  Additional information was not immediately available.
 

New magazine about casino gambling

August 23, 2007 – THE PLAYBOOK targets the diverse nature of casino gambling, from traditional poker to horse racing.  Topics include gambling tips, exotic travel, gadgets, investment news, celebrity coverage, entertainment, and health.

Regional lifestyle magazine launches in Mississippi

August 23, 2007 – PORTICO JACKSON aims to capture the attention of high-end households in Jackson, MS.  Content ranges from friendship and fashion to homes and culture, travel and entertainment, and shopping.

Publisher Karen Gilder oversees this monthly magazine, which debuted earlier this year.  Additional information was not immediately available.
 

Counterculture magazine relaunched

August 22, 2007 - ARTHUR, a transgenerational counterculture magazine, which ceased publication with the Winter 2006 issue, is back. Billed as "a review of life, arts & thought," the publication strives to offer independent takes on politics, alternative lifestyles, music, and artistic endeavors.

Jay Babcock is editor of this bi-monthly publication, which reappears with Issue #26 (September 2007).  80,000 copies are distributed by subscription and in retail stores throughout the U.S. and Canada.
 

New magazine from Kraft Foods

August 22, 2007 - GOOD EATING, GOOD LIVING offers insights into living with diabetes.  Topics include education, food solutions and recipes, lifestyle tips and support, and better management.

The magazine launch will coincide with the start of a companion radio show beginning on August 25.  Additional information was not immediately available.
 

Regional tennis magazine debuts

August 22, 2007 - JAX TENNIS takes a look at the tennis scene in northeast Florida. The focus is on the lifestyles of players and the activities at private and public tennis clubs and resorts.

New magazine about the homeschooling experience

August 22, 2007 - SECULAR HOMESCHOOLING "reflects the diversity of the homeschooling community" and is a non-religious magazine.  Coverage ranges from how to teach a specific subject and learning styles to being a homeschooling parent and teaching a wide variety and number of children.  Specialty interests are "day in the life" and humor pieces.

August 21, 2007 – FARMERS’ MARKET TODAY targets direct-to-customer farmers, but may also interest restaurateurs, caterers, chefs, and grocers.  The aim is to “help independent family farmers improve profitability and sustainability.”

Publisher Mary Sheppard oversees this magazine, which debuted this summer and will publish 10 issues per year.  Distribution is by subscription.
 

Indie filmmaker magazine to relaunch

August 21, 2007 – THE INDEPENDENT, formerly a magazine published by the Association of Independent Video and Filmmakers, an organization that went out of business last year, is getting ready to relaunch a website and print publication.  The target audience is “true grassroot, activist and independent filmmakers,” who are interested in connecting on technology-smart topics and the ins and outs of making films.

Mike Hofman is editor-in-chief of this quarterly Independent Media Publications’ magazine.  The website, http://www.independent-magazine.org, will launch on September 1, with the print publication debuting several months later.
 

New magazine reports on collecting craze

August 21, 2007 – PLUSHIE PALS is all about collecting Webkinz stuffed animals, as well as offering standard price guides, games, decorating tips, and new item reports.  The major demographic is girls from 6- to 14-years-old.

The bi-monthly magazine, published by Beckett Media, debuted in early July. Additional information was not immediately available.
 

Regional California magazine about wheels and waves

August 21, 2007 – PE-WOW is about the RV, camping, boating, off road vehicle, and motorcycle lifestyle throughout inland Southern California.  Topics include stories, beginner’s guides, accessories, and tips.

Published weekly by the Press-Enterprise Company, the magazine is inserted into the newspaper (circulation: 181,000) on Wednesdays.  The magazine is also available at area retailers.
 

New magazine for Orlando tourists

August 20, 2007 - ORLANDO ATTRACTIONS MAGAZINE is all about the theme parks, tourist attractions, and restaurants in Orlando, FL.   Coverage ranges from the new and unique to events, interviews with industry insiders, rumors of new things coming, and updates on projects underway.

Matt Roseboom is editor-in-chief of this publication, which will launch in the next few months.  The publishing frequency and circulation have not yet been announced, but it "will be available at Orlando area hotel gift shops, stand-alone gift shops, on newsstands, and will be sent to subscribers all around the world."
 

Dance magazine embraces the spirit of movement

New magazine for pharmaceutical industry

August 20, 2007 - INTERNATIONAL PHARMACEUTICAL QUALITY (IPQ) will "directly target the relevant issues surrounding international harmonization and help further the discussion about the regulatory approaches appropriate for advancing products and processes."  Topics include problem area analysis and developing regulatory initiatives.

Bill Paulson is editor-in-chief of this bi-monthly Parental Drug Association (PDA) magazine, which launches with the September issue.  Additional quarterly supplements will address a specific technology topic.  Distribution is to PDA members and by subscription to the public.

August 13, 2007 - METROPOLITAN HOME's "newly revamped eight page front of the book section" has been titled "Word."  Within these pages, previously the "Take Note" section, readers will find greater coverage of sustainable living and green design, how to live a greener life, contemporary design news, and "highlights on architecture, food, technology, and community activism." Mixed Martial Arts magazine goes national

New community magazine already looking at expansion possibilities

August 7, 2007 - GATEHOUSE MAGAZINE "will focus on the community," covering history, architecture, and people who are making a difference.

Published by Kansas Media One for the Leavenworth, KS area, the bi-monthly publication is set to launch on August 9 and will be distributed with the Leavenworth Times newspaper as well as on newsstands and by subscription.

Kansas Media One is owned by GateHouse Media, which publishes newspapers in 20 states.  A Wyandotte County edition is planned for September and it is hoped that the initial GATEHOUSE MAGAZINE will provide a template "that can be taken to all of the Gatehouse papers across the country."
 

New magazine for American Airlines flights

August 6, 2007 - American Airlines has retired AATTRACTIONS magazine and refocused inflight editorial offerings with ON AMERICAN AIRLINES.  Topics range from "the world of technology, with news and reviews on games, music, TV, and DVDs," to entertainment industry profiles, venues and attractions, books, and high-quality products.

The monthly publication, from American Airlines Publishing, is found on all entertainment-equipped flights and has a circulation of 172,000 copies.
 

New magazine reports on vein treatment

August 6, 2007 - VEIN is a medical magazine covering "information on varicose and spider vein prevention and treatments."  Content includes in-depth interviews, overviews of companies and products, and the latest industry news.

"T" magazines undergo changes

August 6, 2007 - THE NEW YORK TIMES MAGAZINE is initiating changes for three of the four T: STYLE specialty editions.  Bi-annual T: BEAUTY will incorporate more women's fashion coverage with the winter issue and be renamed T: WOMEN'S & BEAUTY.  A new editor, Maura Egan, has been appointed.

Quarterly T: LIVING will refocus on design and be renamed T: DESIGN & LIVING with the winter issue.  Pilar Viladas has been named editor, with Christine Muhlke as deputy editor.  Ms. Muhlke has also been named editor of T: HOLIDAY.

Amanda Hesser will oversee a special T: FOOD issue, slated to debut in November. Ms. Hesser continues to edit the food pages of THE NEW YORK TIMES MAGAZINE.

August 6, 2007 - LÀTEEN MAGAZINE provides the Latino teen community with articles on culture, fashion, art, and relationships relevant to the Hispanic experience.

Publisher Ayal Korczak oversees this magazine, which debuted last year and now distributes 100,000 copies by subscription and on national newsstands.
The publication frequency is unclear, with either four or five issues per year.
 

Fighting arts magazine launches

August 6, 2007 - WMA ILLUSTRATED is all about western martial arts and reports on hand-to-hand combat techniques, historical perspectives, and weapon overviews.

Publisher Scott Baltic oversees this quarterly magazine from Peregrinus Publishing. The debut issue was distributed last month at conventions, academies, and by subscription worldwide.  Additinal informatin was not immediately available.

Horse racing lifestyle shown in new magazine

August 2, 2007 - THOROUGHBRED STYLE is all about human interest and lifestyle stories "regarding travel, transportation, dining, fashion and leisure activities related to horse racing."

Executive editor Larry Simpson is at the helm of this bi-monthly Silks Media Corporation publication, which is headquartered in Toronto, ON, Canada and debuted with the August issue.  60,000 copies are distributed to racing industry members, with an additional 20,000 available at race tracks and clubs in Canada and the U.S.
 

Regional wellness magazine debuts

August 2, 2007 - BELLISSIMA includes articles on nutrition, lifestyle, fitness, balance, environment, anti-aging, and overall wellness and health, and targets the residents of San Diego County, CA.

Pia Mangini is editor-in-chief of this monthly DuAmici Media magazine, which debuted with the July issue. 30,000 copies are distributed through area retail and entertainment businesses.
