August 31, 2005 - Launched early this year, BREATHE covers the yoga lifestyle for real people.  "We explore ancient philosophy and traditions in a modern yet profound way." Writers should follow a tone of wonder and humor, looking inward but keeping a global perspective.

Headed by Bill Eyerman, the quarterly title is published by B&J Publishing Inc. and is set to debut on newsstands in October.

New mag for the dogs

August 30, 2005 - West coast dog owners have a new magazine titled HOLLYWOOD DOG. It covers style, products and health.

The bi-monthly title is by Gatsby Publishing, which also publishes sister title NEW YORK DOG.  The October premier issue is on newsstands and distribution is 50,000 copies primarily to western states.  Editions for the Miami and Chicago areas are being considered.
 

Boston college student voice captured

August 26, 2005 - BOSTON UNCOVERED aims to provide an "insider's guide to Boston" for college students in the area.  Content, with a student voice, includes coverage of events, restaurants, clubs, and services.

Michael Freidson is editor of the annual issue being published jointly by The Boston Globe, Boston.com and Metro Boston.  Distribution is to 50 area campuses and debuted August 25.
 

New Seattle pub to launch

August 26, 2005 - SEATTLE MONTHLY is in the planning stages, with a launch date set for Spring 2006.  Features include authoritative stories on local issues as well as shopping, restaurants, and nightlife guides.

Nicole Vogel oversees this magazine and is publisher of PORTLAND MONTHLY, a sister title.
 

Police subject of new mag

August 25, 2005 - AMERICAN COP aims to deliver a "look-you-straight-in-the-eye approach" to content targeting mid-level supervisors and street cops.  Writers must be current or retired police officers according to the website: http://www.americancopmagazine.com

The bi-monthly title premiers its September/October issue with Dave Douglas as editor. Publisher FMG Publications will distribute 75,000 copies.
 

USA manufacturing chronicled

August 25, 2005 - MADE IN USA is a newly launched magazine covering US-made goods. The focus is to "tell the stories, struggles and accomplishments of those Americans and US manufacturing companies."

The bi-monthly title, edited by Julie and Adam Reiser, has a rate base of 100,000.

August 24, 2005 - POSITIVE MAGAZINE is targeted toward professional business travelers. Content covers travel, food and dining, shopping, people, business, and real estate.  The focus is to expand readers' "global knowledge base."

Tiffany R. Love oversees this monthly title, which debuts this month and is published by Petra Publishing Company.  Distribution is to members of professional organizations, by subscription, and on newsstands.
 

Disney readies new parenting pub

August 23, 2005 - Aimed at parents of children under seven, WONDERTIME will feature articles on good eating habits, getting kids ready for school, and other relevant issues.

Lisa Stiepock is editor of this quarterly publication, which is set debut sometime in 2006. Published by Disney's Family and Children's magazine Group, frequency is expected to jump to bi-monthly or 10 issues per year in the future.
 

Regional travel mag to launch in January

August 23, 2005 - COLORADO EXPLORER MAGAZINE, set to debut with the January 2006 issue, will be publishing "photographs, and travel and adventure stories about places, people, and things to do around Colorado."  The target audience are likely to hike, bike, ride, or drive for adventure.

New motorcycle touring pub hits the streets

August 22, 2005 - ROAD TRIP is getting ready to guide the discerning motorcycle touring rider.  Content includes emerging touring trends, best recreational activities, historical and cultural attractions, lodging and dining, industry news, and products that enhance motorcycle travel.

Co-editors Gary Dolgoff and Kate Jackson oversee this bi-monthly Sidecar Suite, Inc. publication.  The magazine debuts with the September/October issue and in 2006 will publish monthly with a controlled circulation of 60,000.

Gemstone mag changes name, content

August 22, 2005 - The International Colored Gemstone Association is replacing its ICA GAZETTE with INCOLOR, designed to offer "a more structured editorial policy."  The revamped magazine will include a cover story, two regular features, and a news section.

Jean Claude Michelou and Barbara Lipatapanlop will both serve as executive editors. The website is http://www.gemstone.org.
 

Spiritual insight focus of new pub

August 22, 2005 - Helping people live better lives is at the core of SOUL MAG, a recently launched publication dedicated to offering spiritual insights on real-life issues.  The target audience is twenty- and thirty-somethings and content covers fashion, business, sports, music, and an expanded view of God.

David P. Sharp is editor-in-chief of this quarterly title published by Soul Publications in San Jose, Calif.  The magazine debuted in March. Circulation figures were not immediately available.
 

Seventh-day Adventists go global with pub

August 19, 2005 - ADVENTIST WORLD is set to launch this September, with features on Adventist heritage, Bible study, and world church issues and news.  "Writers from all over the world" are being sought out.

The monthly magazine, which absorbs the former North American edition of the ADVENTIST REVIEW, estimates an initial print run of 1 million copies in English, led by editor Dr. William G. Johnsson from the Silver Spring, Maryland offices.

Annual tech mag out October 17

August 19, 2005 - USA TODAY is putting together a technology magazine to review consumer electronics, report on home technology issues, and provide tips and how-to articles. The title is USA TODAY NOW PERSONAL TECHNOLOGY.

The annual issue is published by Gannett Corp. with a distribution of 300,000 copies on newsstands October 17.
 

American politics mag to launch

August 19, 2005 - THE AMERICAN INTEREST is set to provide a "comprehensive understanding of the complex and multifaceted events that shape our lives." The tone is unpredictable, provocative, intellectual, open and honest.

Adam Garfinkle is editor of this title, with a circulation of 50,000 and five issues per year. The Autumn debut issue will be available on September 1.
 

Mid-Michigan fitness mag

August 17, 2005 - HEALTHY & FIT features tips, advice and stories on the "mind, body and spirit, wellness, working out, travel, nutrition and healthy eating, weight loss, preventative health care, relaxation and stress reduction, outdoor recreation, and beauty.

Tim Kissman is editor of this monthly publication distributed in 350 venues throughout mid-Michigan.  The title debuted in April.
 

High school jocks enter mag market

August 17, 2005 - High schoolers are the target audience for STACK, a new athletic performance magazine.  The publication's subtitle is "For the athlete by the athlete."

Co-founder Nick Palazzo oversees the title which publishes 10 issues per year and has a circulation of 300,000.  The debut issue was March.
 

New Canadian photojournalism mag

August 16, 2005 - Photo essays are the core focus of C-ING MAGAZINE, a new Canadian publication.  "We want to be a showcase for Canadian visual storytelling."

Colleen Hughes is managing editor of this quarterly title set to debut its launch issue in September.  Distribution is by subscription, although a newsstand deal is nearing completion.

August 16, 2005 - LOUISIANA GOLFER'S EDGE MAGAZINE plans on treating residents and visitors the same, with information about the state's courses, instruction and tips, golf tournament news, charity events, and product reviews.

Keith Duncan will oversee the monthly title, slated to appear at golf destinations, grocery stores, hotels and tourist centers this September.
 

New Oregon mag targets affluent

August 16, 2005 - AFFLUENT LIVING MAGAZINE covers dining, health, shopping, trends, travel, lodging, people, nightlife, arts, culture, and style for the well-to-do residents in southern Oregon.

Editor-in-chief D.W. Allen steers this bi-monthly title, which debuted with its May/June issue.  Target households are those with real estate values over $400,000 and a combined income above $100,000.
 

Lifestyle pub for both sexes

August 16, 2005 - The premier issue of New York-based HIS AND HERS is available on newsstands.  Both men and women receive attention, with content covering fashion, beauty, gifts, decor, health, wine, travel, and gadgets.

Love and relationships take center stage

August 16, 2005 - TANGO launched earlier this year, offering a mix of expert advice, in-depth reporting, personal narrative, and opinion essays.  The focus is "the art of being together as a couple."  The tone of voice is "provocative, playful, and candid."  Topics include sex, fashion, careers, culture, stress, travel, home, health, and money.

The quarterly title is published by Tango Publishing Corp. and debuted with its Spring issue. The core audience is women in their 20s and 30s.

Weight loss title targets real life

August 15, 2005 - LOOKING GOOD NOW! launched earlier this year, covering nutrition, diet, exercise, health and beauty. Articles focus on "the easiest ways to lose weight, get in shape and stay that way."

Ten issues are published per year by AMI/Weider Publications.  Distribution is by subscription and in Wal-Mart, Kroger stores, and supermarkets.
 

Teen mag debuts

August 15, 2005 - FGBG (FOR GIRLS BY GIRLS) is all about real situations and stories of teenage girls.  Relevant editorial material is only accepted from writers between the ages of 13 and 20.

Bay Area mag recently launched

August 15, 2005 - MARIN MAGAZINE features articles on the region's personalities, culture, destinations, entertainment and dining, and trends in fashion and home.

Jim Wood is editor-at-large of the bimonthly publication with a ratebase of 45,000. April/May was the debut issue.
 

CBS to launch support mag in 2006

August 12, 2005 - Exclusive interviews, photos, previews and behind-the-scenes features of CBS talent and shows are just part of a new magazine titled WATCH! Additional content will include guides to travel, fashion, and Hollywood lifestyles.

Jeremy Murphy is editor of the quarterly magazine, which is scheduled to debut in January 2006.  The title will be published by the CBS Communications Group in association with McMurry, a custom publisher.  Circulation is 400,000 and will be distributed at CBS show tapings, Paramount Parks, and CBS affiliates nationwide.
 

Online medical site goes into print

August 12, 2005 - WEBMD offers "accessible health information that is right for patients and those who care for those patients."  Features include in-depth looks at health and wellness issues as well as celebrity interviews on health topics.

The bi-monthly print title debuted with its April/May issue, with Nan-Kirsten Forte as editor-in-chief and Marjorie Martin as executive editor.  Distribution is currently to doctor's offices, but may expand to single home delivery in the future.  The website is http://www.webmd.com.

Published quarterly by World Publications, 125,000 copies are distributed in bookshops, airports and upscale shops, and also by subscription.
 

Shopping mag for expectant mothers

August 9, 2005 - BUNDLE recently debuted and is billed as a "complete, one-stop shopping experience for mom and baby."  Content includes pregnancy and parenting articles, features on health and nutrition, and the latest in technology and baby gear.

August 5, 2005 - With its April preview issue tested, SEVERE is getting ready to debut its first issue in September.  The focus is entertainment coverage of the comic, film, music, and television industries with insider view articles, news, reviews, profiles and interviews.

Jason M. Burns is editor-in-chief of this title.  One more issue is planned in 2005 (November), and then its on to a monthly publication schedule for 2006.  Distribution is through comic book specialty shops and by subscription.

Feminist publication saved

August 5, 2005 - WOMEN'S REVIEW OF BOOKS, the magazine known for insights into feminist issues and its reviews of nonfiction, fiction, and poetry by and for women, will return in January 2006. The magazine was suspended in December 2004 due to financial difficulties.

August 4, 2005 - GOOD LIFE is a new lifestyle and home furnishings magazine set to debut next month in Massachusetts community newspapers.

New golf title aims for affluent readers

August 4, 2005 - GOLF LIVING will be showcasing distinctive golf travel destinations, luxury fairway living, and the "spirit of the game." Articles will also cover fine dining, golf personalities, equipment reviews, wine, art and culture, music, shopping and cuisine.

George Fuller is editor-in-chief of this quarterly publication which debuts September 1.  An initial circulation of 100,000 copies is planned. The title is published by Angeles Publications, a division of Tribune Los Angeles, Inc.
 

Outdoor youngsters target of new mag

August 4, 2005 - Snowboarding, skiing, surfing, kiteboarding, trail running, mountain biking, paddling, rock climbing, and mountaineering are all fair game for articles in a new outdoor lifestyle publication, ASX.  Typical features will cover the lifestyle, top athletes, gear, apparel, electronics, movies, music and destinations.

The debut issue, targeting 18- to 26-year olds, is due out August 8 on newsstands, with a total distribution of 85,000 copies anticipated.  Brian Metzler is editor-in-chief of this RFA Media title.
 

Hip-hop mag recently launched

August 3, 2005 - RAP-UP is being billed as "the first hip-hop magazine for teenagers," although the creators envision its audience from ages 14 to 28.  The focus is on rap and R&B profiles and reviews, with writers from the Y generation.

Devin Lazerine is editor-in-chief, with brother Cameron as executive editor.  The quarterly title debuted in spring, and circulation jumped to 80,000 for the summer issue.  The fall issue is due out in September.  Distribution points worldwide include Wal-Mart, book stores and record stores.
 

Lifestyle pub for women 25 to 35

August 3, 2005 - Fun and edgy are the key ingredients to a recently launched lifestyle publication, FOR ME.  Content includes articles on home, fashion, food, career, entertainment, finances, health, and travel.

August 2, 2005 - The latest celebrity, style and entertainment news is the focus of a new publication, WEEKLY SCOOP.

Vivian Vassos is editor-in-chief of the magazine, set to debut across Canadian newsstands October 3. The title is published by Torstar's subsidiary, the Toronto Star Newspapers Ltd.
 

West coast lifestyle mag publishes trial issue

August 2, 2005 - "The fundamental living basics that serve as the glue of daily life" is the focus of LIVING 101, a one-time special issue publication for twenty-somethings.  Content is separated into four categories: home, food, garden, and travel.

Premiering on newsstands August 9, the trial issue's success will determine if a regular publication schedule will be ordered.  Katie Tamony is editor-in-chief of this Sunset Publishing title.
 

Law mag for the digital information age launches

August 2, 2005 - E-DISCOVERY ADVISOR is a guide to "electronic discovery, litigation support, computer forensics, electronic investigation and digital risk strategies, law tech solutions, tools, services and legal technology best practices."  The target audience is lawyers, litigation specialists, corporate counsel, and senior executives.

September debut for NYC-centric mag

August 1, 2005 - T.E.M.P.L.E. is putting together its pre-launch September issue for 19- to 30-year-old New York City dwellers.  The focus is on fashion and entertainment and includes articles on trends in cloths, new music, local nightlife, music and film reviews, and celebrity interviews.

The monthly magazine will be distributed on newsstands, as well as in area hotels, airports, nightclubs, restaurants, and universities.  Initial circulation is 250,000.  Krystal and Matthew Laman head up the title.
