Essays to fill new magazine

April 26, 2006 – THE CRIER is preparing to offer non-fiction stories about art, culture, travel, science and leisure.  The tone is smart, timely and savvy.

Doree Shafrir and Christine Smallwood are the editors of the quarterly magazine. The Spring debut issue is expected out in May and is distributed by subscription.

April 26, 2006 – ROOM 100 is an upscale culture magazine focusing on the arts, fashion and nightlife. The target audience is guests of Thompson Hotel properties.

April 26, 2006 - HOPE FOR WOMEN is a lifestyle magazine that offers faith, love and virtue for the modern Christian woman. The editorial focus is on real women, real stories, real life issues and real hope.

The bi-monthly title is published by The Jones Group and is distributed by subscription.  The website is http://www.goingcoastal.biz.
 

New magazine for online gamers

April 25, 2006 - MASSIVE ONLINE GAMER will cover lifestyle, entertainment, and product topics of interest to the community of online gamers.  The inaugural issue, due out in late May, features interviews, instance maps, questing guides and articles on people's interaction with various games.

The bi-monthly magazine is published by Beckett Media.  Distribution will be to 50,000 retail, grocery, book, comic, hobby, toy and gaming stores.
 

New magazine covers sports memorabilia

April 25, 2006 - BECKETT ELITE is a new magazine targeting high-end collectors of sports memorabilia.  The focus is to "give readers all the information a collector needs to know" but is also appealing to sports fans interested in reading about and seeing high ticket items.

The title is published by Beckett Media.  Additional information was not immediately available.
 

New magazine focuses on divine spirit

April 25, 2006 - SACRED FIRE is all about reconnecting with others and to our own divine spirit, based on the relationship of man to the planet Earth. Submissions may be in the form of articles, essays, interviews, profiles, photography, poetry and fiction.

Jonathan Merritt is editor-in-chief of this quarterly magazine, which debuted in October 2005.  Distribution is by subscription and in bookstores and specialty outlets throughout the U.S. and Canada.
 

Lifestyle magazine aims for life awareness

April 20, 2006 - MELANGE is all about fashion, food, entertainment, design, travel, health, art, and social issues. The focus is on providing an "enriching and 'get smarter' awareness."

Gary Davy is editor-in-chief of this recently launched quarterly publication. Distribution is by subscription.
 

New magazine for LGBT science

April 20, 2006 – THE JOURNAL OF LGBT HEALTH RESEARCH is a scientific forum featuring articles impacting the lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender community.  Health disparities and public health problems are the focus of research reports, current news, and field observations.

Regional lifestyle magazine being planned

April 19, 2006 - DEXTER: IONIA COUNTY MAGAZINE will be published with the residents of Ionia County, MI in mind.  Topics include social issues, entertainment, fashion, real estate, area business reviews, profiles of local icons, home and garden, health and fitness, and coverage of non-profit organizations.

Elizabeth Moore is editor of this bi-monthly publication, which is published by Penzer Press, LLC.  The debut issue is due out in fall sometime.
 

Beer website to publish in print

April 19, 2006 - BEERADVOCATE MAGAZINE (BA MAG) is "dedicated to advocating beer through a very unique exploration of beer style, culture and respect."  A list of specific topics was not immediately available.

Jason and Todd Alstrom, founders of the BeerAdvocate website, will oversee the magazine and publish the inaugural issue this fall.  The publishing frequency will be monthly in 2007 with distribution by subscription.
 

New sewing magazine on newsstands

April 19, 2006 – CUTTING EDGE is for people who enjoy sewing and wish to create and personalize their own styles in home decorating, new craft ideas, and the latest fashions.  The target audience is 25- to 54-year-old women.

Theresa Gonzalez is editor of this quarterly title published by SoHo Publishing.  The magazine launched earlier this year and can be found nationwide on newsstands and in fabric and retail stores.
 

New bridal magazine takes on the world

April 19, 2006 – WORLD BRIDE MAGAZINE embraces the cultures, religions, ethnicities and races of all women to deliver a diverse look at wedding day planning and the voyage thereafter.

Editorial Director Tatyana Cerullo oversees the publication.  The premier issue is due out sometime in fall.  Additional information was not immediately available.
 

Women’s lifestyle magazine prepares third issue

April 18, 2006 – JEWEL, a magazine for women between 18 and 34, is all about juggling life, love, family and career.  The focus is on news and entertainment that is current, hip, and real.

Publisher Sandra Vasceannie oversees the quarterly publication from Star Media. The third issue, Summer 2006, is due out in May on newsstands, bookstores, retail shops and by subscription.  The ratebase is 125,000.
 

New martial arts magazine available

April 18, 2006 - KOKORO is subtitled "The Martial Heart" and offers articles on spiritual, philosophical, mental and physical training.  Although written for all age groups, the publication does offer a special section for children.

The quarterly magazine debuted with its February issue and is distributed by subscription.  The website is http://www.kokoro-press.com.

iVillage expands portfolio

April 18, 2006 - LAMAZE PREGNANCY and BABYSTEPS TODDLER are two new magazines being planned for 2006.  LAMAZE PREGNANCY focuses on the early stages of pregnancy and will debut in July.  BABYSTEPS TODDLER is all about helping new parents establish good health habits for their 1-to-3 year olds and is due out in September.  Content will be written by healthcare professionals.

Sally Tusa is editor-in-chief for both iVillage Parenting Network publications. Distribution will be through ob-gyns and pediatric offices.  Each title is forecasting a circulation of one million and it is expected the magazines will be published bi-annually in 2007.
 

Upscale regional magazine to debut in May

April 18, 2006 - A new upscale magazine for the metro Detroit area is in the works. AMBASSADOR is for "upwardly mobile people in the 25-to-40 age group." Topics include business, politics, entertainment, and profiles of movers and shakers.  Social and community issues will also be featured, with "solution-minded" articles. Co-publishers Denise Ilitch and Dennis Archer Jr. oversee the publication, which is set to debut in mid-March with the Spring issue. This edition will be followed by the Fall and Holiday issues, with possible bi-monthly publication in 2007.  Distribution will be through subscription and at area newsstands, bookstores, and retailers.
 

Dancehall music chronicled

April 17, 2006 – WICKED ACT reports on the dancehall music culture, with articles on past and present artists, sound systems, industry insider scoops, and news.

The bi-monthly magazine from O’Dix Publishing debuted in late February with 7,000 copies distributed throughout the U.S. and Jamaica.

Healthy families focus of new magazine

April 17 2006 - The subtitle for the new magazine KIWI is "Growing families the natural and organic way."  The underlying theme is to offer information that helps busy families "make the best choices, with the best information available, in the shortest amount of time." Topics range from food and wellness to the health of our planet, social issues and family growth.

Sara Gragnolati oversees the bi-monthly May Media Group publication.  The launch issue is due out in August. Additional information was not immediately available.
 

Regional home design magazine debuts

April 13, 2006 - AT HOME IN FAIRFIELD COUNTY "takes a couture approach to home design by discovering unique, inspiring spaces, spotlighting emerging trends and highlighting local standouts in interiors."  The target audience is 30-something-year-olds in Fairfield County, CT.  In addition, the magazine will spotlight places to travel and shop.

Victoria Lieber is editor of this bi-annual publication from Moffly Publications.  The debut April issue is due on newsstands sometime this month, with the second issue being published in October.  The distribution is 30,000 copies.
 

New business magazine for African American women

April 13, 2006 - SISTER INC. will empower and inspire African American women who are starting their own business.  Topics include financial information, business education, issues of motivation, and profiles that highlight accomplishments and firsthand experiences.

Publisher Audrey Bell-Kearney oversees the quarterly publication, which will be distributed by subscription.  The debut Summer issue launch date was not immediately available.
 

New magazine for male nurses

April 11, 2006 - MEN IN NURSING recently launched, covering clinical, technology, career, and personal issues.  Peer-reviewed articles are included as well as features for teachers, recruiters and managers in this professional field.

Bob Kepshire is editor-in-chief of the bi-monthly publication from Lippincott Williams & Wilkins.  Distribution is by subscription.
 

Boy's lifestyle magazine in the works

April 11, 2006 - Actors Dylan and Cole Sprouse are behind a new magazine called SPROUSE BROS. CODE.  Topics include movies, TV, music, gadgets and technology, sports and athletes, websites, and animals.  The target audience is 8- to 14-year-old males.

Matthew Rettenmund is overseeing the quarterly title. Dualstar Entertainment Group has commissioned Leisure Publishing LLC to create and distribute the magazine.  The debut issue is due out on newsstands July 18.

New magazine for hunters debuts

April 10, 2006 - HUNTING CAMP JOURNAL is for hunters who also enjoy being involved with the management of the land and wildlife.  The target audience also includes farmers, ranchers, rural land owners, as well as hunt club members.

New magazine to support family caregivers

April 10, 2006 - SUNRISE is all about the aging and caregiving process and will feature articles on inspiration, holistic wellness, happy homes, relationships, health, nutrition, legal planning and long term finances.  The target audience is women aged 45 to 64 who typically assume the caregiver role.

Sunrise Senior Living has chosen Haymarket Media Inc. to develop the magazine. The debut Spring/Summer issue is available and one additional issue will be published in 2006. 500,000 copies were distributed to Sunrise Senior Living communities.
 

New B2B magazine to launch

April 10, 2006 - DIGITAL CONTENT PROVIDER will target film video production professionals who create content ranging from traditional cinema to cell phones.

Michael Goldman is senior editor of this monthly Prism Business Media publication.  The magazine will debut in May with a circulation of 60,000.
 

Regional magazine chronicles the Windy City

April 5, 2006 - THE CHICAGO LIFESTYLE magazine features articles on art and theater, political issues, business and investment opportunities, restaurants, nightlife, local festivals, real estate, fashion, lifestyle and healthy living, sports teams and events.  The target audience is 21- to 40-year-olds in the city.

Mackenzie Gaffney is editor-in-chief of this monthly publication.  The Allen Entertainment Management magazine debuted in March.  Additional information was not immediately available.
 

Christian lifestyle magazine launches

April 5, 2006 - ANOINTED features Christian-value articles on fashion, music, careers, and relationships. The target audience is African American women aged 21-45.

The bimonthly title debuted with its January/February issue and is published by Exodus Media Group.  Additional information was not immediately available.

New literary magazine goes beyond fiction

April 4, 2006 - PUBLIC SPACE is about opinion, argument, investigation, culture, and the stories behind the news, as well as fiction and poetry.

Brigid Hughes is editor of this quarterly magazine from A Public Space Literary Projects, Inc., a Brooklyn, NY-based company.  The recently launched debut issue is available by subscription and on newsstands.
 

Christian business magazine launches

April 4, 2006 - Regional publication CHRISTIAN PROFESSIONAL MAGAZINE will offer articles that are "based on biblical advice that is rich in proven tactics for advancing your career, business and relationships in the workplace."

New regional lifestyle magazine

April 4, 2006 - DESOTO MAGAZINE is targeting Mississippians interested in people, places, arts, community, events, decorating, dining, recipes, entertainment, family health, gardening, and travel.

Richard Cotton is editor of this monthly publication from Hill Media.  The magazine debuted with the January issue and has a distribution of 20,000 copies throughout the north Mississippi area.
 

New life for business lifestyle magazine

April 3, 2006 - SUCCESS, a business lifestyle magazine that went on a five-year hiatus, is being redeveloped. Articles will focus on balancing busy business careers with a fulfilling family life.  Topics will include entrepreneurship, income generation, and personal time issues, along with interviews of successful people.

Gay Bryant is editor-in-chief of this Quantum Media Venture Fund magazine.  The debut May issue will be followed by two more in 2006, with plans to increase to a bi-monthly schedule in 2007, 10 issues in 2008, and ultimately publishing monthly in 2009.  A ratebase of 650,000 is planned, with national distribution on newsstands and in retail shops.
 

New home design magazine launches

April 3, 2006 - ULTIMATE HOME DESIGN "is aimed at forward-looking homeowners who want to understand the home system choices available to them to design homes that optimize environmentally enhanced lifespan living."  The target audience also includes building trade practitioners interested in the latest green building news.
