Computer Titles Sold by Ziff-Davis Publishing

April 15, 2000 - Smart Business, PC Magazine, Yahoo! Internet Life, Interactive Week, PC Week and Smart Reseller, titles under the Ziff-Davis Publishing umbrella, have been sold. Full story

 

Space.com and Hearst Magazines on July 4 will launch a Will Smith.eh, a print magazine, Space.com Illustrated. It'll be published three times in 2000 and have an initial distribution of 150,000 with a cover price of $2.50. Anne Mollegen Smith will be editor. April 24.

Sport Magazine has lost its Editor-in-Chief, Norb Garrett, who has taken another position within publisher EMAP Metro's organization. (April 24)

ESPN The Magazine welcomes Neal T. Scarbrough as a senior editor. Mr. Scarbrough was previously a sports editor at The Denver Post. (April 24)

Automotive Industries Magazine has named Andrew J. Cummins as editorial director. (April 24)

Interactive Week has a new Editor-in-Chief, Rob Fixmer, formerly with the New York Times. (April 24)

Out is still being edited by Brenda Lemon in New York, after a reorganization by new owner Liberation Publications and is looking to regain its original vitality and focus on the art and culture of being gay and lesbian. (April 19)

George's May issue was produced completely under the guidance of new Editor-in-Chief Frank Lalli, a definitive moment for the magazine since the death of founder John F. Kennedy, Jr. (April 17)

T&L Golf, the new name for two-year-old publication Travel & Leisure Golf, has added three new features: Buy.com Buzz, T&L Golf Lessons and Tour Caddy Tips. (April 19)

US Weekly, formerly a monthly title, has been redesigned as a weekly publication focused on delivering news-driven content about entertainment and celebrity lifestyles. Editor-in-Chief Terry McDonell also noted that the celebrity question and answer column recently lost its correspondent.

Cigar Aficionado has been revamped to tone down cigar news and other tobacco-related content and expand its lifestyle coverage with new features and columns (Insights, Making It Outside Hollywood, Dressing Down, Buying Today's Hot Artists). The effort is an attempt to reach readers who mistakenly thought the title was just for cigar lovers. Go figure! (April 19)

National Enquirer's Stephen Coz will step down as Editor-in-Chief to become editorial director of American Media Inc.'s Consumer Magazine Division. (April 15)

PC Computing recently changed its name to Smart Business. The online version can be accessed at. (April 15)

PC Week
is scheduled to change its name to eWeek starting with the May 8, 2000 issue. Content will shift from personal computer news to information helpful for companies initiating e-commerce and Internet-based business. (April 15)

Elle Ultimate City Guide,
a new biannual publication, will feature cities that are considered centers of style, including New York, London and Milan. The title is a spin-off from Hachette Filipacchi Magazines' Elle. (April 5)

Details
has a new Editor-In-Chief, who will refashion the title over the summer to a fashion magazine. Daniel Peres, a 28-year veteran at Fairchild Publications, which took over the publication of Details, recently left his position as European editor of W to head up the effort. (April 3, 2000)
